Crazy Cloud Formations

Very bizarre.
Apparently it's a big mystery to everyone on why this occurs.
I sure don't have a clue.

The explanation I read was that it had to do with downdrafts coming down on either side of the Bay of Carpentaria overnight and causing a lateral moving lifting mechanism much like a wave. Imagine a big wave of cold air coming down and pushing the warm moist air up and over it. But hey I could be wrong.

Meh, chemtrails dispersed by Freemasons for population control.

The same thing happens between Curacao and Aruba on occasion, but not as well defined as the "Morning Glory" clouds in Australia.

I'll try to get some pics next time it happens.

I first heard of it when I started gliding in '05. Burketown, right near the Gulf of Carpentaria, is a hot spot for glider pilots trying to surf these bad boys!

I don't know if it's a Gulf or a Bay, the difference is size. Of course, since gulfs are bigger, I'm gonna think it's a Gulf!!!

Anyways, take a look at -> http://www.care2.com/c2c/groups/disc.ht ... st=1003582

It even has a picture of a motor glider on top of a Morning Glory and a narrative of Russell White finding his way to it. At the bottom it has a few links that have some more information.

Here's an explanation from Doug Christie from the above article:
Doug Christie wrote: Back in 1975 Doug was examining data from an array of ultra-sensitive microbarometers which had been set up by the ANU across the arid interior of the Northern

Territory. The equipment was there to detect infrasonic waves - exceedingly low frequency sound waves that can travel thousands of kilometres, and can be used to detect the carrying out of clandestine nuclear weapons testing.

Quite unexpectedly, a new type of atmospheric wave showing up in the data: a large amplitude, slow moving, solitary wave. Doug realised these exotic gravity wave disturbances were probably closely related to the then barely understood Morning Glory phenomenon of the Gulf of Carpentaria.

He built a portable array of microbarometers and used them between 1980-96 to further understand the Morning Glory, confirming that these giant rolling clouds were large amplitude solitary waves that can manifest in several different forms.

Although atmospheric waves are common throughout the world, those in the Gulf are unique because they are often accompanied by a spectacular, visible, rolling cloud formation that appears regularly during a particular time of the year.

Whatever the cause, I think its sweet! Maybe if I'm ever out their on vacation/work I'll get a chance to see them or fly near them!

Cheers!

Cloud line formation over Aruba from Curacao and Bonaire. Similar to Morning Glory but not as nice.

I think they are contrails from some secret aircraft powered with a scramjet engine or captured alien technology. So there.
