Ya, I got a call.. but only asking questions like do have a airport pass and IFR ATPL stuff like that, are you willing to move? and wages too.. The guy said they were doing some ground work for things later on.. So my question to you guys and girls .. have you had the same type of call? 5600hrs

There is an employee recomend system that has been in place for a year or so and it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of internal references helped a lot of people get in. Don't let it discourage you though, many folks get in without an internal reference including myself. It helps but is not mandatory.

I'm guessing it will be delayed. Normally Jazz would try to give about a months notice of employment.

Not always, I got asked to start a week before a groundschool at Jazz but I had to take a later one but that was when they had one every 2 weeks back in '05..

Its (July 19th) been cancelled/postponed. Reasons unknown.

Could the g/s be delayed due to the summer bid being delayed to Aug? Perhaps?

sounds reasonable to me but i have no idea

perhaps they expect our TA to ratify which gives them a clearer picture of their requirements

the july bid will now take place in august of every year as we did not get our winter schedule from AC until after the july bid had been published

fingers crossed that those that got a call will be called back for an august or september start date

Also,

If the TA is ratified, there are items in there that will allow the company to run with fewer pilots. Could be another reason why.

Sorry for those that got the call, only to find our that the G/S got cancelled. Hopefully by August we may know more.

I only hope that calls didn't actually go out for July 19, if they did it probably means that people had already quit their jobs elsewhere and are now hoping to stay where they were. I despise the new age corporate don't give a rats ass about anything but profit mentality!!!

Yup, I'm one of the guys that was hopeful last spring, and then again this year. I have completed the sim, medical, etc, but have not been given a formal offer by any means. I do feel for those who did get an offer and then put in their notice. But for some of us there is a bright side. When and if we do get the job we come onboard with a fresh contract that, from what I can tell, most Jazz pilots are happy with. This means a good contract for us on our first day of work. It also means a happy (hopefully) skipper beside us = better for us. I would rather wait a couple more months to enter into something positive. So, enjoy the summer and the free time your current job offers, because I don't think we'll have much of it for the first few months at Jazz at the bottom of the totem pole again.

It's been a year and a half. What's another couple months:)

Maybe corporate bullshit what the company is doing. As in hiring, you have to give notice than all of a sudden you class is cancelled.

If that happens and the old company does not take you back I would be visiting my friendly neighbourhood laywer.

On a positive note, when you do get on here at Jazz. In my books it is an amazing Gig, my intensions 31/2 years ago were to come and bee line to Westjet. Now to this date I still have not sent them my resume. Great job here

Just a quick question for those who went through the hiring process in 2009 but could not start with Jazz because of the cancellation of the GS... Did you have to go through the whole process again this year when they called you back or did you just have to finish whatever was left (ie Medical, reference check)...? I am just wondering how long the interview and sim eval are valid for...?

Also, any internal guesses on when things might be moving again...?

Did my interview a week ago.

At the end of the interview I started asking questions about the july 19th GS. That's when they said : ''oh yeah, about the ground schools...''

It seems that the new contract allows for the pilots to do more overtime. This would eliminate the need to hire new pilots for the time being.

So let's hope for the best...and wait.
