There are two types of person that want to join the police force. One is a person who wants to make a difference and help bring order, legally, to society. The other is one who sees the opportunity to live out their need/fantasy to exert force over others.

Gross over-simplification of course but the latter have problems that are going to manifest themselves with the over-reaction, bigotry and bullying we are seeing on this Avcanada forum so regularly. The former, I respect.

Having had a British girlfriend for three years, and a family heritage of being pompously British, the moment I looked at the picture you submitted, I knew there was something seriously amiss.

After hours of forensic examination of that image with a magnifying glass, and a jeweler's loupe, I finally came to a Sherlock Holmes moment of revelation. After wracking my brain to find what was out of place in that photograph, I engaged in considerable pondering of the pulchritude of those pendulous orbs. Knowing it was something very simple, and the answer was staring me right in the face like a pair of big brown eyes of a dairy cow locked on mine.

Then it struck me like a hot kiss at the end of a wet fist ... the Union Jack is upside down!

That means this young lady is in trouble and is requesting a rescue operation to be mounted.

ISTP, do you have any video of that young lady? Its my guess that just like the video taped interviews the North Vietnamese released where US pilots held in The Hanoi Hilton were "confessing" to war crimes, but one of them was sending Morse Code signals by blinking and repeating the word "torture."

This woman is being held against her will for some nefarious perverted purpose which is so disgusting as to be unmentionable in a Canadian Aviation Forum of such high standards as are upheld by the hard-working moderators at AvCanada. One can only imagine the kind of things the crevice of that cleavage may have been subjected to.

Damn, I am glad I looked at this thread. What began as another gunna slam another cop bashing session turned out to be a truly enlightening experience that another crime was solved. However I must ask, has she been rescued and if not, I too will volunteer for the mission before us to unhand this fair maiden. I did give your theory due consideration, as I admit to being somewhat single-minded in solving the curious incongruity that struck me the moment I laid eyes on that photograph.

After once again studying the image with an eye to solving the conundrum you put forth, I reluctantly say that your incorrect in your photographic intelligence gathering.

Don't let this minor setback affect your self confidence, as there is a significant error rate in the world of intelligence gathering. Examining information after the fact, the uninformed public think it is easy "to connect the dots," in real life it becomes an entirely different matter. One may liken it to having a table full of pieces of a jigsaw puzzle but the Intel people are prohibited from looking at the picture of the box cover.

You should feel no shame in looking at such pictures and making notes based upon your observations Rigpiggy.

Considering the force of gravity acts downward, toward the centre of the earth, and the mass of that poor girl's signalling devices is sufficient, they wouldn't have their distinctively curved droop angle if she were actually suspended by her ankles with the intent to fly the Union Jack in the correct orientation.

So, to me, the emergency signal that I decoded is still valid, and every last man Jack of us should consider doing "the gentlemanly thing," and mounting an exploratory mission to rescue a British damsel in distress.

Although she may be putting on "a good stiff upper lip" perfomance for the camera by faking a smile, I would suspect that interviews subsequent to her release of tension following the extraction process will verify that she is suffering from "Stockholm Syndrome" from being held so closely by her despicable captors. Hence she would likely be good at "faking it" to make her kidnappers feel more manly.

I say until the last man is totally depleted, we all stand proud, and rally around the flag and all it stands for.

The Kershaw County Sheriff's deputy was fired after an August 5 surveillance video showed him hitting the inmate dozens of times with a baton, authorities said Monday.

The video shows the deputy leading the handcuffed man from a van toward the jail. The deputy then pulls out his baton and begins swinging it repeatedly at the man's legs, bashing him until he falls to the ground.
