What a dummy..
I think I might have seen the worst pilot ever today.
Buddy flew in VFR, through cb's in imc weather and landed with visual like 200ft back
when the 1900 holding outside the vor refused to shoot an
approach and eventually diverted somewhere else

Re: What a dummy..
Did you see this? did you hear this ? Where you in the air? refueling on the ground? the RVR? Cleaning a clients car? in the 1900? In the dummies airplane?

Re: What a dummy..
there have been many times where a contact/vfr approach has gotten me in where another 500' for the ifr approach would have had me rockinandrolling. if you weren't in the cockpit,it isn't your place to criticize

Re: What a dummy..
There have been times when I have shot the IFR approach, missed, found a hole on the missed, break cloud on a contact approach and laded without incident. All depends what you see and where you are sitting. Not to mention I would not be the least bit surprised if the 1900 was bound by SOPs to stick to the approach rather doing a contact approach. Picking through a few CBs in a single at 100 knots is a lot easier then in a 1900 at 150 knots, with 19 people in the back who do not necessarily like getting rocked around as your pick your way through. Until you are in the cockpit, perhaps you should just watch from the peanut gallery. A buddy of mine once got hired by a small 703 operator on the West Coast. The CP says "OK here is how it works. We never turn down flights, if it is VFR take the 182, If it is IFR take the Aztec, if it is below IFR take the 185 on floats"

One guy who worked for us in YCW commuted from Nanaimo in the company's Cherokee 140 (wheels of course). He had a 100% success rate through the winter...
Geez did I say that....? Or just think it....?

if i wouldn't be caught dead making the call to fly vfr from the ground, what right do i have
to question someone elses call to fly vfr. and ya, i wasn't in the cockpit of either airplane
but that doesnt mean i dont have a valid point.

Re: What a dummy..
I hope the comments aren't reflective of the majority of pilots. No wonder you are "pressured into flying below limits". Doesn't sound like it's the companies you work for that are doing the pressuring though.
