Anyone know about the A340 fuel dump south of the Island on the night of Feb 17? YKZ tower made a broadcast about it that night.

SHHHHHH!!!!, Don't let the Tree Huggers know. I bet they dumped more fuel at one time than we dump in a whole decade doing preflight inspections.

A few years ago Air Canada decided it was cheaper (and better public relations) to conduct an overweight landing (and land as softly as possible) and do an overweight landing inspection on the aircraft than it was to waist the fuel, spend the time in the air to dump it, and pay for the environmental fines. They must have had a lot of fuel on board if they dumped.

It was also on Pearsons atis, Not sure what the problem was, but landed on 23 right after it had cleared the runway with the trucks in tow.

Apparently it took them over an hour to dump the fuel. The plane was non-stop to Pakistan. I guess they decided to screw the environment in favour of a safe landing.
