Equipment Bid

Post by prop2jet »

The latest equipment bid is out, so for those of you who were told a few months ago that the ground schools were cancelled may soon get a call. If one is to believe the numbers posted by the Company, there are 37 vacancies.

Those numbers will change slightly once all the reinstatements have been factored in. Nevertheless, more new hires is good news for all.

I'm guessing almost all Dash spots, by the time everything settles...lots of people have reinstatement rights, and a whole bunch of others just NEED to fly a jet. ;)

In a world full of people, only some want to fly. Isn't that crazy?

Any thoughts on how the fact there are YYZ RJ vacancies will play out. I'm guessing some upset western base pilots who weren't allowed to bid 57. Also, just speculating here, but I guess the management have dropped the ball again. No announcement about contract extension for the Thomas Cook flying, so guess they'll be gone after the 2 years. But not to worry, they'll find a way to blame the pilot group for it, it won't have anything to do with thier complete incompetence.

No problem then. I guess next months ensemble report will be a copy of June's, July's..."the problems that affected us in June...". SAFETY, comfort..........................................sched.

Good news!

Any ideas of how many people have been put in the hiring pool so far? I know of one guy who has been waiting for 1 1/2 years since his interview/sim eval...

Thank you!

Ha! I don't really "need" to fly a jet, but I do need half-decent coffee!! Most people who went from RJ to D8 complain about the lack of APU. Personally, the lack of a coffee-maker is FAR more frustrating. On the other hand, early morning YAM departures are something to look forward too. If the D8 was catered with fresh brewed Starbucks at all our stops, it might be worth staying on it

Don't you go discouraging people to bid the jet  !!!! I need all the mighty jet jocks to use their reinstatement rights so I can have some "seniority" back!

My guess is that new hires will be YUL DH8, YYC DH8 and maybe YYC RJ. Good luck to all who are applying, I look forward to having a slightly bigger cushion between my arse and the street!

I didn't know about the Starbucks in YAM.

Interesting....if you'll excuse me, I'm off to review my standing bid.

Yup, in fresh canisters too. First flights out of YXU and YQG have Tim Horton's coffee, but it doesn't really taste that great.

'Fresh' canisters? Surely you jest!
However, you are correct that it's the #1 coffee stop (even in canisters older than some here... haha).
Another good YAM trick is to keep the individual coffee packets from your room and haul them around with you for those times when decent coffee is not available, but is an absolute necessity (like YTS ). I have 2 or 3 in my bag. Can make an ugly morning just a little less ugly. 8)

Ive been doing that too. I steep the coffee bags like a bag of tea in my cup, makes a decent coffee. For all other hotels, I always double bag the coffees when I make it in the machines. At YTS or YYB (for the early morning flights), I'll add a packet of hot chocolate to the coffee too, which the hotel staff put out for breakfast. A poor man's café mocha, it's really not that bad!

It would be nice if JAZZ could unload those CRJ200 & DHC8 - man, they are ugly beasts and not comfortable to be in( as a pax). Heading over to the rock in the very near future and will give Porter a flick and see what happens.

Au contraire, topper, c-hris, etc. Does the title of the this post ring a bell..."For Those YYZ CRJ F/O's Above Me". Seemed to come right before the rumors of a second wave of RJ reductions, which was gonna bump you too.

Oh it totally rings a bell. I just didn't want to go through an entire initial all over again. Switching planes is a total pain in the arse, whether its a jet or a prop. Im not too excited about being one of those ping-pong pilots who switches airplanes every 6 months. The dash is very fun to fly, much more fun to hand fly compared to the RJ; however, I do miss the coffee maker and flying into EWR, LGA, ATL, DCA and ORD. The destinations on the RJ in YYZ is what I like. I could have stayed on the RJ in the last bid by bidding into YYC, but as far as Im concerned, the dash in YYZ has better flying than the RJ out west

You obviously haven't enjoyed 25% off everything, including the 4-7 happy hour prices @ Fibber Magees :)

You need to do more yts overnights. Nothing like seeing how many cockroaches you can get down the drain while taking a shower.

To be perfectly honest, I don't really mind YTS overnights. Ive had a few long layovers there. Sears, Zellers, East Side Marios, Montana's, Subway, free breakfast in the morning.... sure beats YQX and YDF, and probably even better than YQT! Then again, I've never checked under the mattress for bed bugs.

Not too fond of YDF but YQX is o.k. for me. Met a lovely (and I use that term very loosely) girl there and.......yadda...yadda...yadda...she's not that bad for YQX, she has her own teeth, hasn't slept with any family members (as far as I know) and pretty darn hot!

I probably knew her mother 30 yrs ago from the Flyers Club........... the only action in town. That spot had it's selection of the 'ladies' who shed their clothes " My name is Dianne Duz..... and I do"

PS Imagine all you have to look forward to are RON's at YQX and YDF....... ouch!!!
