http://groundspeedrecords.com/records/r ... 799kts.htm

This guy claims 799 kts in a Cessna Citation Bravo which has a Max TAS of about 400kts.

I wonder where he found a 400 knot tailwind.

Maybe in the SIM?

Did 412 kts G.S. in a B1900D in level flight one night between YUL and Quebec City. There were several planes that night where ATC was asking "aircraft types".

Had a sustained 608 kts. enroute from Denver-Centennial to St. Louis in a Lear 35. It was as smooth as sitting here typing this out.

Cheers!

Last summer, eastbound out of Island Lake, MB I got 194 kts over the ground... in a C185 on floats! I thought I was gonna get a nose-bleed! There was a low-level jet stream kickin' around that day at 2500', made for a fast ride. Consequently the plane needed a new paint job after that trip, as it started peeling off at around 180kts.

For me it was 700 knots for about 1 minute in a 727-200 with a winter maritime tailwind. Lost in Saigon, you hold the record from what I've heard.
