Maldives Employment 2010

Post by DareDevil »

Just wondering if anyone has the down-low for Maldives this year....I know its about that time they are gonna be looking. Any input on hours required? license? how many captains TMA/MAT are short this year??

Read the other posts out there. There are NO flying jobs except for current captains on twotters. Nothing more to say, end of conversation, Fenite(?), done. That's all. Don't ask anything. If you ain't a current captain on a twotter on floats, or a maldivian, end of conversation.

So if I am ramping for a bush airline that might train me as an F/O on a Twotter in the near furture (I dont know when) and I have 300 hrs TT with no twotter experience, they won't hire me or be interested in me ?

I assume locals are cheaper to hire.

Not cheaper they are paid the same, just lots of them with pilot licenses trying to break into a flying job. Sound familiar!!

Pilot King. You don't seem to be able to read my posts. The Maldivian Mafia are trying to get rid of all expats!! They wouldn't even hire you to be a dock worker.

There will be NO expat hires for f/o's!!! There will be minimum hires for expat captains only at MAT. Read their hiring page.

Get it? Like I said, end of thread. Nothing more to say. Those who have experience know all about the Maldives. Those don't are pounding your head on a brick wall. Can't make it any plainer than that. :smt102

Hey glad to see the float training course is really working out for you!

But what if I have 352.7 hours total and 10.3 hours on a Twin Otter??

And...I could learn a few words in their language.....

...they would take me for sure.

I said in previous posts they would hire pilots who are already captains on the twotter. I actually know a lot more about what's going on down there. And I congradulate you on being smart enough not to take the job.

I was just giving ya a hard time LL. I'm sure we prob know eachother. I've been hearing lots of stories about the mafia pulling there usual BS. I am friends with lots of the locals but wouldn't turn my back on any one of them. Too bad too, i really miss the flying but not the 90hrs and month and the 5er's. At least its coming up to the northeast monsoon soon and flight attendant season!!! TC

Yeh, I hear FD. It's really a love hate situation there. Flying is fun, 5er's 4 out of 5 days, monsoons and Male over population. Just missed out on my upgrade. Poor timing. I'd go back for the upgrade and to be with some geat riends again. TMA s going downhill and except for a few things at MAT, at least they seem to be trying to improve things. Apparently JARS will only reduce flying by a few hours. Guess I should be glad I had the last chance to go there.
