Metro 25

Post by ehbuddy »

Has anyone ever seen photos of this variant?

One version that did see the light of day was the Metro 25, which featured an increased passenger capacity of 25 at the expense of the baggage space found in earlier models; the deletion of the left rear cargo door and the addition of a passenger door on the right-hand rear fuselage; and a belly pod for baggage. A Metro III was converted as a Metro 25 demonstrator, it flew in this configuration in October 1989.[14] Also mooted but not built was the Metro 25J, which would have been another jet-powered aircraft with TFE731s in over-wing pods.[12]

Many thanks! I have looked everywhere for a pic of the Metro 25 but once again the Avcanada forum has provided the results.

The Metro 5 also looks interesting with the modified cockpit window and 'T' tail.

Cool stuff! I think they were also thinking of a model with a stan-up cabin.

The Metro 5 looks a lot like a B-1900C to me.

Hey...don't laugh. The CRJ100 and 200 don't have them. I'm pretty sure Bombardier decided not to test either at night. :?

The Metro V and Metro VI were both designed to be standup versions. The taller fuselage necesitated the T-tail. They were in developement at the same time as the 1900D. The V was to be fitted with the 1100 SHP -12 engines, while the VI would have had the larger-14s. They opted to produce neither. Instead, they made minor changes to the existing Metro design and had it recertified under part 23. Hense the Metro 23.

Too bad! I fly the the 23 in cargo config. Great plane.
The proposed V/VI or 25 would have been sweet. No one makes commuter category planes anymore.
