Flight design CTLS
I see that Springbank Air Training college has a Flight Design plane registered. Does anyone have any experience flying these?

Never flew one, but I did a tour of one of their production plants.
The wife I think got it about right in her description, they have more of a helicopter look then aircraft. What I think she was referring to her, bless her non-avation heart, is that the visibility from it looks to be quite good.
And if Springbank doesn't price it to high, it would make a good plane to add those X number of hours your entitled to add to licences. And considering it cruises as fast as some other aircraft, has a manufacturer stated range of 2,000km [http://flightdesign.com/files/CTLS_eur_small.pdf], might be worthwhile just renting for fun. Just don't expect to bring a lot with since space is at a premium in that bird.
The only thing I wonder is if there are any problems registering it for commercial use. My guess no, but not sure.

I have experience flying them. They are allot of fun and really great on gas. They are designed very well and are fairly easy to fly, but definitely different than most planes.
Re: Flight design CTLS
How do they fly differently? Is it the handling, responsiveness?
Re: Flight design CTLS
I think SATC got rid of their CT, unless they got another one? The CT is a great airplane, but it takes some practice. Landing one isn't quite as simple as thumping a 172 down, and you better be ready to work the rudder a lot more.

It flies like an airplane. The only really noticable parts are the climb performance over a similar sized 150/152 and they're a little lighter on the wheels on the ground, that is to say don't get out of hand taxiing and be mindful of the wind when turning. Similar to most other Ultralight aircraft in that respect.zed wrote:How do they fly differently? Is it the handling, responsiveness?
