Need help for school project

Post by 403CDN »

Hi, I am doing a school project about airplanes. I chose the DHC-4 Caribou. The project calls for an interview type discussion and personal experience/opinions about the plane. (I am new to the aviation world and do not know any pilots/mechanics who fly/repair the Caribou.)

Also, my instructor said that the best way to talk to pilots is to show up to a company with box of donut, :smt040 Is there a company that flies the caribou in Calgary?

Thanks for your help and time.

You will either have to talk to some military mechanics, or pick a new AC as there is no one south of Yellowknife who opperates that machine.

If I were you I'd pick a company in YYC then pick one of their machines to discuss. For Example, Kenn Borek with their turbine DC3.

Showing up with a box of donuts will get you in though!

I don't think anyone in YZF or anywhere else in Canada is currently operating the DHC-4. Tindi used to, Max Ward used to, and there are probably others as well. Arctic Sunwest does operate 2 DHC-5's right now, maybe that is what you are thinking of KAG?

If you want stories/experiences of obscure machines, try some of the oldtimers at a museum or hangar.

There is someone in the Calgary area with a great deal of Caribou experience that could probably help you out there, pm me and I'll set you up.

Air Tindi ran a DHC-4 years ago. But if you really want to know about the DHC-4 track down Bob Ambrose not sure if thats the proper spelling for his last name.
