Liftdump, what are you flying? What is your weight?
CYBW lifted some of the restrictions regarding jet traffic and weight restrictions, so it is significantly less restrictive than it was a few years ago.
CYEG66 why is transfering some of the business to CYBW absurd? Most major centers have a main international airport where all the passenger sched flights operate out of and then a secondary airport where the biz jet, tourist and smaller aircraft operate out of. Why can't medevac, small bizjet and oilpatch traffic operate out of YBW? Maybe it's time that Calgary followed everyone else.

Re: YYC's loved "F" word
My apologies, somehow I thought Liftdump was describing a commercial carrier situation. Oddly, if you look closely enough, YBW is considered the reliever airport to big bro YYC, but in the span of a year, it may 'relieve' a grand total of 10-20 flights, all of them with fewer than 10 seats. The FBO thing must be a big issue, I presume. It doesn't prevent pilots from sheepishly asking if we could 'fit them in' at YYC when that was their original destination. I hate to say it but it sometimes works. Unfortunately, when flow is in effect, corporate aviation takes more of a hit than commercial...

Citation max gross 30300lbs YBW=30000lbs so close but yet so far.

Actually I was told there are three Citations on the field these days (and I saw one taxi past the Flying Club a week ago).Liftdump wrote:Citation max gross 30300lbs YBW=30000lbs so close but yet so far.
On the other hand, with all us students, 172s, DV-20s and the circuit often being full, would a lot of businesses really want to operate out of YBW regularly?

Re: YYC's loved "F" word
Those that think CYBW has extensive delays, haven't flown out of many other places, especially CYYC. Getting stuck waiting for take off for 5 or even 10 minutes, is not a delay. The circuit at CYBW is often busy for a few brief moments and then completely empty. The schools book all of their planes at the same time, so all of the traffic goes out and comes back in at the same time. It may feel like it is always busy to the students/instructors, but it isn't. If you compare the current movements to other airports, there is lots of room for growth. If the schools altered their booking times, traffic would drop off to virtually nothing. The mornings and evenings are often dead quiet and there are very few really busy sessions now adays. The oilpatch traffic would be operating mainly in the morning and evening and wouldn't affect anything. Medevac and Corporate would often be number 1 to arrive or depart unless they arrived during the end or the beginning of a booking time and even then, extending the circuit another 2 miles to fit in the odd faster arrival, is not an issue.
Yes there are 3 or more citations based at CYBW now, but they are the smaller models and probably under 30000Ibs.
Liftdump, are the weight restrictions based on GTOW or current weight. How often do you fly at GTOW?

Re: YYC's loved "F" word
The weight restrictions are based on MTOW not operating weight. Springbank would only
be used when flow keeps us out of CYYC
be used when flow keeps us out of CYYC
