I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I only met Pene the once, and I remember being amazed at how such a nice, well educated and well mannered woman could possibly be your wife! It must be true that (polar) opposites attract, and I guess she must have provided a kind of balance to your wayward self. It's terribly unfair that the person you loved so much for so long would be taken from you now, when you should have been enjoying your retirement with her for many years to come. I hope you can find solace in the many fond memories you have of your lifetime together and that you are surrounded by many good friends and family members to help you through your time of grief.

I never knew Penelope and only know of you from many, many posts on this forum. I didn't agree with all of them, but I did agree with most of them.
My heart sank when I read this news. I can't imagine what you are going through right now, and sincerely hope I will never have to experience it myself. Suffice it to say that there are many people, just like myself, who don't know you personally but still care very much for the loss you are experiencing. Keep your chin up. You won't be getting any punches harder than the one you've just received.
I'm glad you got time to spend with her at the end of your career, it makes me pause and re-evaluate how I appreciate my wife and family.
