Owning and operating a Canadian registered aircraft abroad
Had an interesting question come my way.
A Canadian citizen is living on a permanent basis in another country (therefore is not a resident of Canada). Assuming there is no objection from the country which he permanently resides in, would there be any objection from Transport Canada if the said person were to acquire and intend to maintain an aircraft on the Canadian-registry with the intention of exclusively and on a "permanent" basis operating the aircraft outside of Canada?

What about the need to have the annual signed by an AME? (Minor point but something to consider) Even an A&P with an IA can't sign off a Canadian Annual. If it's a "hotspot" somewhere, I'm sure there are lot's of wrench turners who'd be willing to help out!!

Look on the TC aircraft register (advanced search) under owner province. 'Outside Canada' is a selection. There are about 40 aircraft outside Canada. It's a start.

Many aircraft go on long term contracts and retain their country of origins registration.
Further TC's almighty hand only reaches to the extent of the Canadian borders. In other words whether you can operate a Canadian aircraft temporarily or permanently in another country is not a TC issue. This is a matter for the governing body of the country you are in.
As someone else already pointed out if you want to retain your CofA you will need to have the plane inspected and signed off by a Canadian AME. And 90% of the countries will require you to maintain your CofA in order to fly in their airspace.

Some great points. Thanks!
Number1 , I tried going to the Advanced option of the Canadian Civil Aircraft Register but the pull-down menu for Owner Information only listed Canadian provinces.

Can you please give me the link that you use?

Sorry, it's under 'Owner information' and 'Region' and they're likely all private registrations. (check pms also)
