Cheap float time

Post by justplanecrazy »

Anyone know of an operator offering cheap float time. Don't really care whether its in Vancouver, Victoria, the Okanagan or Calgary area. Looking for a Citabria or Champ or something that would be cheap to train on. Also anyone owning a small float plane that would be willing to let someone with 70hrs float time and a Commercial Licence, build some time on it.
Thanks.

There used to be a place called Stewart Air out of Victoria I think with a Champ. He did float ratings for sure but I'm fairly sure he rented out time on it as well.

Stuart Air shut down last summer after someone wrecked the Champ.

The guy that got busted for running drugs was from the Duncan area.

cheap = 140$/hr solo for a 172 (imo)

outback aviation has 4250$ for 50 hrs + 600 insurance, but i think their planes can only fly for 2 hours without refueling.

i don't think such a place exists, i was just pointing out what i would consider cheap. (for rental)

parallel aviation in BC has their C172 on floats for about 155/hr, but i'm not sure what their rental policies are like.

So is experimental time any different than certified? Does it count towards your atpl / cpl etc. the same?

I think CARS says that you need 25 hrs on an airplane w/ airworthiness cert. for a recreational licence, but it doesn't specify for the CPL/ATPL requirements.

so i guess it doesn't matter, but you will have to double check.
