Now Springwater Airpark in Barrie for sale?

Post by kzcvtm »

I just did a google search and found that the Springwater Airpark (CNA3) in Barrie is for sale. Asking price 3.5 mill.

Another ready for redevelopment? Options in the GTA are getting less and less for GA. Is there no stopping the downward spiral? :(

It's been for sale for years... Nice little airport right in the core of Barrie.

Great airport, it has been on the market forever but no one wants to buy because it's not actually in Barrie.

Niss,

I took a look at the Google Map and it's just at the end of Anne St. A lot of housing in that area. I would think that a housing developer would like to buy up that parcel of land and plant houses there for the Toronto commuters. At 3.5 mill, not a lot of money for a lot of housing.

Like Niss said, the Springwater Airpark is not it Barrie, it's in Springwater, not the core of Barrie. Due to provincial regualtions, there will be no new housing developments in Springwater within 1km of the City of Barrie limits. I'm betting the owner hopes somebody doesn't know that.

It is a great place because yes, physically it is pretty much in Barrie, but it is in Springwater Township.

It was interesting to see a few years ago when I was at the airport and we had a big storm, the power went out, but as I looked across the runway 50m away everyone had their lights on. Barrie was unaffected.

This is also why I go to the airport at night to set off my fireworks (chill out folks, we have no night ops and I always check for a/c) as Barrie PD can't get me for a Barrie By-Law when I am not in Barrie
