COPA and group insurance

Post by 185_guy »

I am wondering if anyone is a COPA member and is taking advantage of their group insurance rates through 'The Personal' insurance company for home and auto insurance?

I just called for a quote and to my surprise it was much cheaper that what I pay now, for the same amount of coverage. It almost sounds to good to be true, or I have been getting ripped off all these years!!!
I like to keep my business local, but besides going in and talking with someone face to face there seems to be no benefit for the extra in premiums.
Thanks for any insight.

I take advantage of it for my automotive insurance. I don't think you'll find a better deal out there. Paying around $230/mth on a 2010 Toyota Matrix.

We recently got auto insurance with The Personal, not through COPA, but through my wife's professional affiliation, and they are very competitive. Both of us have 10 start ratings.
I did not know that COPA delas with The Personal.
Give them a call, it saved us $900/year on 2 car policy. Our previous broker was PC Financial, and they were cheaper than the CO-operators.

I called them up for a quote, and the number I was given was a fair amount more expensive than somewhere else. When I told the guy this on the phone, and asked him if he could rework his numbers or match quotes, he said plainly said no. That was the end of my experience with them.

Thanks for the replies so far.
Compared to what I pay now for both home and auto (2), with clean records, the Personal is over 30% cheaper than Wawanesa.
I've priced other local brokers and no one is even close.
I've asked other companies to match prices based on what coverage is being offered and no companies will, they state the book price is the price.
The only thing I worry about is their service and reliability if there is ever a claim...........sometimes (maybe) having a local broker may be a good thing.

When I bought my 172 the first place I went for a quote was Marsh Insurance (via COPA group membership) and it was significantly higher (about 30%) than other quotes through a local broker.

I partnered up with a couple other fellows last year and they applied for a quote through the COPA group membership service and the Marsh Ins. quotes were also higher for them.

If memory servers, the application process was incredibly tedious as well. But that was a while back.
