My girlfriend and I really want to help dogs, either as volunteers (both of us) or as a job(her). Shes a volunteer at the Humane Society, and shes trying to be a volunteer with another organization. I'm trying to get some volunteer time in as well. But working at the FBO I don't get a lot of free time.
From looking around the web, I found an organization called Pilots N Paws. They rely on pilots to volunteer their time and aircraft to relocate dogs to different shelters, so they can have a better chance on life, instead of being put down. But they are only in the states. So I'm wondering if anyone knows if their is something similar up here. I would really love to do this, but I can't seem to find anything.
I should probably add that we are down in Windsor Ontario (CYQG)
Thanks Jordan

Re: pilots n paws
Pilots n paws, from time to time, do flights from Canada to the States and vise versa, and domestic flights as well. I was interested in it as well -- up until the type of requests you get. I had a couple requests to do flights. All of the requests were along the lines of "Can you fly from A-B tomorrow and arrive at xx:xx time?". So if you don't mind short notice and time restrictions it would work out.
I gave specifics in my little volunteer post on the type of flying that is possible on my end, time frames etc, but I don't think that registers with non-pilots. Sounds like a good organisation and a lot of fun. I am flexible with my time, but unfortunately, I'm not THAT flexible! Good luck if you choose to register with them.

Re: pilots n paws
A Canadian counterpart to the US Pilots n Paws has recently been formed on this side of the border.
