Air Canada requirements
I am seeking a career with Air Canada as a pilot and I would like to know what are the required minimums to get at least an interview.
Thanks for the information.

Re: Air Canada requirements
Thanks Lateralus. I've been in the business for just a few years, but I know that with 1000 total time (as it appears on their website) I can't even think of getting an interview with Air Canada. I worked three years for them on the ramp while I was in flight school. Maybe it can help? Anyway, I'm near 2000 hours now, so as I get closer and closer to my goal, I try to get a little insight of what I can expect in a near future.
Thanks again for the reply, I appreciate it.

Re: Air Canada requirements
Actually with 2000 you may have a good chance...
Are you a woman, part native, or any other minority?

Re: Air Canada requirements
I'm a 25 year old man, almost perfectly bilingual French canadian, flew mostly in Northern Quebec ( short gravel runways, icing, mountains, ...) in a 704 type operation, Canadian/Switzerland citizen, never had the chance to finish my University courses in psychology because I was based in a (kind of) remote area so I have my College degree.
With the information above and being at almost 2000 total, 1700 multi, 1400 turbine and 400 Multi PIC (100 turbines), do you think I have to wait a couple more years? Are you a pilot for Air Canada yourself?

Re: Air Canada requirements
if you want to know the truth, at this very moment they are looking for people with over 3,000hrs and at least 500-100hr PIC. Realistically it's more around 4,000hrs, but they can because there are plenty of employed and unemployed people with more than required time.
Then again, sometimes exceptions happen, and yes there ware cases where people got in with around 2,000hrs but it's rare.
Good luck!

Re: Air Canada requirements
Thanks for the reply! So I'll continue with my job for two more years or so, need more twin turbo-prop PIC time!

IMO, apply and find out! If you don't buy a ticket you can't win a lottery. If you buy one, you have at least have a chance.
In any case, you will have a history of indicting interest in AC. Start early, and keep the CV updated. You never know, maybe your number will come up.

Re: Air Canada requirements
I started applying for the job since I had 600 hours or so. Clearly not enough hours, but maybe enough to show AC I am interested in flying for them since my debut in aviation. I think I sent 7-8 applications since then.
