Beech Bonanza Down - Seneca College
Just flashed on CP24.
No details yet, other than the station reporting a "Beech 33" is down in the 407 and ??? area. Sounded like the eastern part of the GTA. Reported that 3 people were on board. No details on their condition.
Anyone have additional details?

Re: Beech 33 Down
PICKERING - Three people died in the wreckage of a small plane crash north of Pickering Thursday night, a fire official said.
Capt. Tim Jeffery of the Pickering Fire Service said the trio was aboard a single-engine aircraft that got into trouble and went down in an apparently empty field with homes nearby, in the area of Whitevale Rd., Sideline 24 and
Hwy. 407.
Jeffery said the aircraft, carrying three people, was used by Seneca College.
The plane vanished from radar monitors and police were notified.
A Durham Regional Police spokesman was unavailable to confirm any details.

Okay, aircraft in today's accident is C-GSCZ.
This is the same plane that has had a couple of mishaps of late, including the emergency landing in 2008 on a highway in upstate New York.

Sad news indeed. My thoughts go out to the families of all involved.
Without getting into any internet speculation (seriously, let's not do that), think to yourself about any possible reason this could have happened and do your very best to avoid the same situation tonight, tomorrow and always. Stay safe, everyone.

PM me too please. It's terrible when something like this happens but even more terrible in the close-knit group of students at a college.
Re: Beech Bonanza Down - Seneca College
RIP to the three. Very good friends with all of them. Condolences to their families.

My condolences to the family and friends of the departed, and to all staff and students of the Seneca aviation program.
Re: Beech Bonanza Down - Seneca College
Very sad news and a terrible lose for all the families and everyone in the program.
The college is now confirming on their website that the accident happened during a "routine night flight". Sends shivers down my spine every time I think about it.

Dear Senecans,
It is with great sadness that I inform you of the death of two students and a flight instructor during a routine night flying exercise last night. At this time, names are not being released until family members can be notified.
Our deepest condolences go to the families, and we extend our sympathies to the students, faculty and staff of the aviation school who have lost friends and colleagues.
Out of respect, our flags will fly at half-mast and we will cancel Seneca Week activities scheduled for next week.

Re: Beech Bonanza Down - Seneca College
As we were approaching last night, 33.4 was asking another seneca to head over where their company plane fell off the radar. That was about 650pm. Sad news, RIP.

Re: Beech Bonanza Down - Seneca College
Man, that's tragic. I feel terrible for everyone that knew them. Going through a program like Seneca's, the students become a very tight-knit group. If that happened while I was at Sault College with my classmates and an instructor, I know I'd be devastated.
It's a sad, sad day.
My condolences to the students, staff, families and friends.
