http://sports.ca.msn.com/nhl/news/cp-ar ... d=26569366MONTREAL - A heartbreaking crime was committed at Pat Burns' funeral.
While the hockey world gathered yesterday to mourn the death of the old coach, someone was smashing into his widow's car.
Montreal police say someone broke into the car belonging to his wife, Line, and stole a number of the Burns family's valuable possessions.
The stolen items included 30 autographed hockey jerseys, jewelry, and the late coach's wallet.
Burns, an award-winning coach of the Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins and New Jersey Devils, died after a lengthy battle with cancer.
At his funeral yesterday, people remembered the gruff ex-cop as a tough but fair man who cared about his players and knew how to motivate them.
Burns' widow discovered the crime this morning.
Police say they will launch a public appeal to the thieves, asking them to leave the stolen items in an agreed-upon spot where they could be recovered.

DEPLORABLE.
The more shit like this I read, the less faith I have in mankind. I fight with the idea of staying informed, knowing the news both locally and internationally, versus sticking my head in the sand and ignoring it all together.

I hope they catch the fucking scumbag(s). The only problem after that is what to do with them. Will the courts do the 'Hug-a-Thug' thing or administer some real real justice?
I would like to see he/she/them flogged unmercifully with the cat-o'-nine-tails.

No surprise to me that a piece of constipated crap like this is out on the street pulling thefts for Crack money.
After all, there is societal scum out there creepy enough to steal money from Poppy Fund boxes ..... to me, that is the lowest of the low and deserves to have the crap and pee terrorized out of them in a manner in which they would beg to be treated like the "all-inclusive resorts" at Abu Grabe or Gitmo, then shot and pissed on.

And just as bad is that people would be happy to knowingly buy this stolen property at a bargain price to either collect or sell to another collector at a significant profit. So many people are such disgusting human beings! The Old Fogducker wrote:No surprise to me that a piece of constipated crap like this is out on the street pulling thefts for Crack money.

This isn't over by a long shot. That stuff is way too high profile not to get noticed by somebody. We'll hear more on this story soon.

. Some of Pat Burns's stolen items recovered
Montreal police have recovered some of the items stolen from Pat Burns's family after the former NHL coach's funeral earlier this week.
Police say two suitcases were found Thursday containing some of the stolen items.
The suitcases were found near the Mary Queen of the World Cathedral in downtown Montreal where Burns's funeral took place on Monday.
Police say the suitcases were given back to police by a citizen but that 30 autographed NHL jerseys are still missing, as well as a watch.
Thieves smashed a window of a car belonging to Burns's widow, Line, early on Tuesday morning, less than a day after the funeral for the legendary coach.
They made off with the jerseys, which were to be auctioned to raise money for an arena in Stanstead, Que., named after Burns, along with credit cards, a watch, an iPad, jewelry, photos and clothes.
About 1,500 people attended the funeral on Monday, including politicians, legendary hockey players and coaches, and members of the public.

Re: Cruel crime committed at Pat Burns funeral
Montreal police say 12 hockey jerseys stolen from the car of Pat Burns's widow, Line, within hours of his funeral have been returned to the family.
Const. Anie Lemieux says the sweaters were found by agents from a security company and given to a member of the media.
The journalist then gave the jerseys, which were destined for a charity auction, to the late NHL coach's family.
Burns had barely been laid to rest on Nov. 29 when thieves smashed into his widow's SUV and stole personal belongings, including about 30 autographed jerseys.
The car was in an outdoor parking lot in Old Montreal when it was hit.
Money from the charity auction was to go to an arena to be named in Burns's honour.
The thieves also swiped cherished family photos, Burns's credit cards and his watch. Those items are still missing.
The thieves even made off with bedsheets from a palliative-care residence.
Two stolen suitcases were recovered by a member of the public.
