Good job YYZ ATC (repost from general)
Earlier this week a jazz ac had a runway incursion in yyz. They admitted they had passed the hold line and rather than continue across decided to stop in the middle of the runway. Thankfully ATC yelled abort several times and Westjet was able to perform a high speed reject.
I just wanted to say thank you for a job well done and the lives saved.
As for Jazz wake the hell up. You guys are getting quite the reputation in the industry for non safe behavior.

Shit happens. Just like Westjet's lack of US operations experience a few years back in LAX came within 11m of about 300 pax checking out early. The list of incidents and companies is long, buddy.

Pretty bold statement, care to back it up!

Well if WJ couldn't see A 85000lbs aircraft in front of them and needed ATC to say stop there is bigger issues.Gbax wrote: Thankfully ATC yelled abort several times and Westjet was able to perform a high speed reject.
Also they say yes we crossed the hold short line, you say that they stopped in the middle of the runway, BIG difference here. One hold short crossing means your nose gear maybe across it, you say they sat in the middle of the RWY which NOBODY would do. The only way for you to know this is if you were flying the WJ aircraft.
Now before you go critiquing us, maybe your should look at Westjets occurences in LAX that just happen to be not that long ago, and MUCH more serious.
Now you must clarify this, what rep is it you talk about. Being one of the safest/most highly paid RJ/D8 drivers, amazing benefits. 2nd best OTP in North America, come on what is it you talk about? As for Jazz wake the hell up. Sometimes it's more than just the employees that get the kool-aid. A while back a WJ a/c hit a stationary Jazz a/c while maneuvering on the ramp in YLW. No big deal, stuff happens. (for a while there it seemed everyone was running into our airplanes) The WJ flight bound for YYJ was canceled. Subsequently an announcement to the guests in YYJ awaiting their flight that would turn from the canceled YLW inbound flight was made. They were told in the PA announcement that their flight was canceled because "JAZZ broke our airplane" The whole YYJ airport got a taste of the kool-aid that day

Yes, shit happens. With any luck, at the end of the day, we all go home a little smarter and with nothing more than our pride injured. That's where we agree.habs wrote:Shit happens. I take exception to your comments about WJs lack of US operating experience. I did lots of US flying in the Dash 8 airframes you fly today for one of your founding companies. JetA was cheap, George Sr. was president and F/As had big hair. From the tone of your post, I'd suspect you were still in Junior High.
If the YYZ incident did indeed happen as described, I'm sure the crew that had the runway incursion was mortified. Bad things happen to good pilots; always have, always will. The rest of us put what these pilots learned in our memory banks, and try not to let it happen again.

Arctic,
I think the jist of his post was not to offend, but more to point out that the original poster said to wake the hell up.
I believe he was pointing out that not just Jazz but WJ has had this happen.
My curiosity has now been set though. This topic, WORD for WORD was posted on another foroum on this site by someone else. Who in there junior high mind would want to repost someone elses thread and take the shlacking.
WOW

Oh look, the CADORS report! kind of skimpy on how-far-onto-the-runway-they-went facts.
