How come they are not promoting a rampy for these positions, or, if they have FO`s, why are they not being upgraded
Sometimes a company requires experienced pilots. A big problem with pilots as ramp rats, is quite simply, they get zero experience as pilots. An FO on a Caravan is basically a swamper (say what you like, they are baggage) and you just can't always just "slide" them over. This, and there may not be any FO's who have good credit ratings or rich parents.
Been there, have a few hats left over. The wages aren't bad. The working conditions (ie. the airplanes, and the pilots) are descent. Can't help you with the "rotations", but I will say this. Don't just walk into this company with your eyes closed, thinking they will look after your best interests. Make the "deal" upfront, and stick to it. The pilots are all pretty good sorts. The management? Not so great. Keep your head down and be invisible.
Trying to tell it like it is, kids.
Oh, one little tidbit they left out of their ad. Bring a cheque book to the interview. Or 10K of mommy and daddy's money. Wasaya wants money. Up front. Training costs, don't you know? Frankly, I think this practice is unfair. But young pilots are dumb enough to go along with it, so if you want to work there (have you been paying attention?) you have to bring money to the table. A demonstration of your decision making skills in my book would be a U-turn at this point.
