Jazz hiring pool

Post by dash2/3 »

just wondering how many have been told they're in the hiring pool since the October interviews? also maybe i'm losing faith but the sceptic in me thinks that being told "you're in a hiring pool for future groundschools" is as good as a PFO.

cheers and happy holidays to all.

No, hiring pool is good, PFO letter is direct, ie; please apply again in 6 months etc.
However, if you are put in the pool and interviews are on going, if stronger candidates are interviewed, they would likely get in ahead of you.

Be patient... January 15th equipment bid will give a clearer indication of hiring requirements.

I'm in the pool too, man.

Can't wait for Jan 15th.

I wonder how many of us are in the pool and what's my position in the pool.

What I do know is that the guy who was right before me at the sim was on the november 15th course and he juste finished his line check...

Did you get a letter saying you are in the hiring pool? Or did you get on saying that the ground school is full?

With the Q4's going to the east and TC to be sorted, the Jan bid will probably end up being a Feb bid.

When did Chorus announce the planned location for the new Q400's?

For Gods sake people.

'Chorus' is the holding company.

We are still 'Jazz Air'.

I/we still work for Jazz.

The logo on your wheely bag is going to remain Jazz!

They have yet to make any decision as to where the Q400's are going--at least not publicly. Anyone who says they know different, is full of it!

However, I heard that we will be hiring about 70 people this year.... but that's just a rumor, so take it for what its worth.

Latest rumour is East...split between YYZ and YUL. Comes from many different sources (pilots, agents, airport manager-types)...

I guess we'll see soon enough.

Hey guys just wondering if you are in the hiring pool but havent done the sim or medical yet, when would they call you in for that. with the bid on the 15th coming out soon I would imagine it would be after that, or do they try to get everybody in the pool to the point where they have all done sims. Also I was looking back in the sim stuff and most of it is old info just wondering if anybody has had any recent info they would wish to share.

Thanks again guys/gals for all the help

Hi YWG9,

I also think that they're gonna start calling once the bid is out.

I did the sim in November.

Takeoff 24R CYUL in the dash.

Steep turns, vectors for a hold at the jarry NDB, followed by the ndb approach 24R.

Overshoot, engine fire in downwind and single engine ILS 24R. Wx at minimums on the ILS.

That was the scenario for me.

Hope that helps.

Most bases have only 2 or 3 F/O's on reserve so if more than a couple quit or get sick we are going to be covering the flying with overtime or cancelling flights. Have never seen such short staffing levels here. Hoping to see some hiring soon. We shall see.

Xander thanks for the heads up. I am guessing that the whole sim is done with not auto pilot or gps. also when you did the briefings and such ( hold app) did you use your current company format. For the Engine fire you just ask the PNF to go through the engine fire check list.

Inverted2 I have heard they have been calling in ppl on double time during the xmas rush probably partly to do with the fact that it is Xmas but seems like that would also be a positive sign. but I am an optimist so hopefully the call comes

You're welcome. You got it, no AP, No GPS, (but also, no wind  )

Yes I used my company format for all briefings, except the TO briefing. ( I find my company TO briefing not as precise so I added a little extra).

The PNF does all the emergency checklists for you. You just have to fly the plane.

Good luck.

Just out today that with the 57's going back those guys are coming back down so the need to hire has been mitigated.

Now from someone who has 1000hrs on the dash I see this as a handicap...how many times have you flown in the real world without the flight director

Well a friend of mine just got a call today to schedule a sim eval, so I'd imagine there is going to be some hiring.
