Gotta admit I watch the show. Then again I work on 1920's biplanes, WW2 fighters, and one 1950's fighter jet so I'm into the "oldies" of the aviation world. i wonder what Mikey thought about sitting in my P-40.... Hmmmm...

Tonight on Ice Pilots En DoubleYou Tee......."Buffalo" Joe gambles with his own personal safety as a raging fire ignites a mass of tabacco causing him to inhale its toxic fumes. Just one of the many risks he is faced with when running an airline of aging piston aircraft in the far north!

Image

Watch as Joe's son Mikey pilots his way to the hangar in his vintage piston powered car, braving blowing snow and black ice. Mikey narrowly escapes with his life as he loses control of his vehicle and impacts another. Yet another reminder the danger Buffalo Pilots face every day!

I do love this show but sometimes the drama for the sake of drama is a bit much.

Excellent Promo writing Niss .... reminds me when I used to go into the announce booth and voice all the commercial tags, live read commercials, promos, show intros, etc for the TV station.

I admit it was a bit of a kick to be at home watching TV, and then on would come my voicer for "Tonight on Charlie's Angels at nine, Farrah Fawcett displays her newest hair style on channel 2, following the hit show Dallas as we all wonder who shot JR," .... and my girlfriend of the week would ask "How can you here, and there at the same time?"

Got a kick out of the intro where they were talking about WWII aircraft and seeing the Electra and CL-215 mixed in. And then they talk about the aircraft being built to withstand shrapnel just like a tank. Oh really???????????????

I thought it was pretty good, hey, that "Justin" cat worked pretty hard! Getting that cargo delivered AT ALL was beyond the operational scope of most AvCanaders! (maybe even ME, I get pretty cold outside in my old age!)

Thanks fogduck. I'm thinking I am going to narrate everything I do out loud like that from now on.

Didn't know sleeping on chairs on the YHK airport qualified as adequate crew rest. That's great news. Our company can save a ton of money on hotels now!

+1 I was thinking the same when I saw that but I guess it counts as those "unforseen operational circumstances".

Personally when i flew the Arctic we checked the heaters every 2 hours 3 max. Why anyone would pack a rampie that was on video sleeping in the back and Engineer and not have them baby sit that cow all night to make sure there was no problem with heaters is way beyond me.

Matrix careful what you wish for you just may find yourself sleeping on a bench.

Doesn't anyone think Kelly

Give me a couple of hours with Kelly to take her to the hairdresser for a little hair colour touch up, then to the Optometrist for a set of blue contact lenses, buy her a knockout set of high heels, call my former talent agent, and I could get her the rest of the way to Hollywood ...... (as one of my mentors used to say .... "She's half way to Hollywood") .... nice catch on the appearance similarities Maynard.

You could have a future as a "Watcher" .... a part of a team in the intelligence world that keeps surveillance watch over the entrances to embassies of concern .... like Russia for example. I learned about the existence of Watchers from reading the excellent book "Spy Catcher" by Peter Wright, former Assistant Director of Britain's MI-5. A superb book for techies interested in bugging, radio surveillance and signals intercept, radar, code breaking, etc.

"Watchers" are people in the population who have a highly developed special talent for facial recognition. They study hundreds and hundreds of photos of "Persons Of Interest" and see if any of them show up in places they shouldn't be .... for example, someone who works at a nuclear power plant whose name has turned up on a list of members of the Communist Party, who are suspected of being a particularly fervent and active Communist who is highly likely to engage in espionage and have access to secret and potentially damaging information. If they suddenly start showing up coming and going from the embassy, then it is one more piece of the puzzle that would go on that self avowed Communist's file for later reference.

So there's a new career for you Maynard ... you can either give up aviation and go into a new career with CSIS (no training bond likely) ... or, you could stay right here and keep an eye open for self avowed Commies .... like ISTP for example ... if you see him hanging around the Russian or Chinese embassy with a bunch of papers and a photo album under his arm that contains info on the membership list of fellow "AvCanadians," .... for our collective good, please let us know .... LOL.

Cheers!

Don't drag me into your dastardly deeds ISTP. That's a tawdry, amatuerish attempt to deflect attention from yourself at the 11th hour of your activities being uncovered.

People ... here is a picture of ISTP in both of his most commonly used disguises. He is an expert user of make up. Beware of who you pick up in a bar in Northern Ontario late at night.

Keep your eyes peeled.

Those on the left of the political spectrum may call it fear mongering ... I call it an appropriate level of vigilance.

There is a free Global TV app for the iPad which has a number of Global shows, including Ice Pilots. You can watch on line. Not sure how far ahead you can watch the episodes but I think this season is all there.

I wonder if Joe regrets getting the L188, they seem like they hardly fly. Wouldn't the L188 have been a better aircraft to bring the Generator into Whale Cove? How long is the runway in Whale?
