AW109 v. AW139

Post by ArcticKat »

Does anyone know the operating costs per hour for the 139? I've tried googling it and have come up empty. The 109 looks to be anywhere between $500 - $700, but I can't find anything for the 139.

can't even compare......139 "retails" for $8-10,000 an hour roughly. Not sure on the exact operating cost.

Well, I've tacked on an extra $1,000/hr for airframe replacement near the 10,000 hour TTSN. So a 109 should cost about $1,700/hr for fuel, maintenance, TBO, replacement, and a 10% contingency reserve. What would I be missing?

that sounds about right, but having never flown a 109 I couldn't tell you if that's the going rate or not. Not a lot of them in Canada.

Its apple to oranges. Those aircraft are each in a totally different class.

Usually 10% of the purchase price will give you a charter rate.

No, 0.1% of new purchase price gives you tariff rate.

A $1 million Helicopter rents out for $1000/hour.

A $10 million helicopter rents out for $10 000/hour.

Thanks for the info, but I'm looking at costs for operation, not costs for renting.

haha good point.
might be hard to get any good numbers here in Canada.
London Air Service is the only real charter operator.
Orange is an example of throwing bags of money out the window at 140 kts
and CHL leases one from Era when required.
