Dispatch at Jazz

Post by YYZatcboy »

Hello all,

Seeing as how Jazz is hiring for Dispatch, I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on what it is like to Dispatch at Jazz. (Usual shifts, working conditions, how the flights are divided, etc.)

I threw my hat into the ring for the position, so fingers crossed I'll get an interview. Jazz seems like they would be a challenging place for a first time dispatcher, but a good chance to learn lots.

Thanks!

I don't work at Jazz dispatch, but know someone that does.

I've kept in contact with this person from hiring 'til present, and he said the training was very good. The shifts are generally in the 8-10 hour range, and the desks are divided up regionally...and think some sub-regionally ie: Vancouver to Victoria - many flights, short hops. He said the flights barely register on the flight tracking sites due to the 10 minute delay.

He said it was very challenging in that different aircraft being used (prop and jet) and some difficult airports such as in BC where the minimums can be 3000 feet!

Good luck on your application!

Hi All,

Anyone here have any idea on wages for Jazz dispatchers...? Hourly or salaried, shift premiums,rotation(4 on-4 off)...?

I assume dispatch would be a 24/7 operation...? All positions based in Halifax...?

Any Jazz (current/former)dispatchers on this site...?

THANKS in advance.
