Part time Bell 206 pilot, next year.

Post by Cat Driver »

I am involved in a project that may require a part time Bell 206 pilot to do occasional trips from Vancouver to an island about forty five minutes away.

This will be for moving guests to a private retreat.

I am getting to damn old to want to do all the hoop jumping to satisfy the insurance requirements and may be looking for someone to do some flying for us.

The first thing I need to know is what would a daily rate be for such a part time pilot?

Any suggestions?

500$ a day. Plus expenses. That's about the going rate.

I'll do it for 450$ a day. Don't need to pay the expenses, I don't eat much anyways... ;)

Thanks guys for the answers.

When and if we actually need a part time pilot we will pay top dollar, for the simple reason we want our pilot to be satisfied he/she is being paid fairly.

Another issue I would like to explain.

There is a lot more involved in being a good, safe pilot than the hours in a log book.

Some are awesome at 200 hours, some are hopeless at 200,000 hours.

And once again having hired so many pilots I can't even remember them I have never ever looked at a personal log book.....I do however read fiction to pass time, right now I am reading a novel by Lee Child.

I'm sure at least a few people have read log books and fiction simultaneously...

Lee Child !! I read 2 of his books, passed on to me in a desert camp with nothing else to read.
About a 3 or 4 on the intelectual scale, if you know what I mean.
Have you read the complete works of wilbur Smith?

let alone a hopeless one. Surely chance would have caught up with him after 22 continuous years in the air.

Yes, I was kind of thinking that $500.00 a day would be about what it would be.

I will fly it some of the time but for most of the flying we will just hire someone.

Sky's the Limit will give me the check out to see if I can still out think one of those units.

Well maybe not all of them, I stopped reading when i could predict the ending...

Oh! oh! back on topic, I can understand the thought process of paying he who has the controls top wages....
