Technical Dispatcher - Temporary until December 31, 2011
Description: Role Purpose: Responsible for all technical aspects of the Flight Planning system to ensure a safe and efficient flight operation as directed by the Manager, Operational Engineering.
Role Description: •Develop and maintain the Flight Planning system, including software interfaces. •Responsible for daily OTP investigation and corrective actions plans. •Provide technical assistance to Flight Operations Management and Flight Crews. •Liaises with external vendors and the WestJet internal I.T. department regarding software updates, testing, enhancements and installation. •Support day of operations by providing operational expertise and guidance to the Chief Duty Dispatchers and Flight Dispatchers. •Address all aircraft dispatch issues including performance, weight and balance, ACARS and flight planning. •Investigate, research, and provide recommendations regarding incident/hazard reports. •Provide day of operations support including the management of NOTAMs and RVOP/LVOP. •Other duties as assigned by the Manager, Operational Engineering
Qualifications •Must have a minimum of 3 years experience working with the Sabre Flight Planning system. •Desirable to have a minimum of 8 years flight dispatch experience in a (CAR 705) Type A or B operational control system preferred. •Must maintain a valid WestJet Flight Dispatcher qualification. •Intermediate level of MS Office applications. •Ability to work independently with a high degree of motivation in a fast paced, dynamic environment. •Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills with the capability of establishing respect and credibility through actions. •Ability to influence and get consensus by promoting teamwork and collaboration. •Committed to continual learning.
