Post by captain_parsons »

From Pilot Career Center (http://www.pilotcareercenter.com/JobLis ... ?JobID=933)

Air Mikisew has immediate openings for two Dispatchers / Flight Followers for our Fort McMurray Base.

Air Mikisew is currently seeking two low-time pilots to work in our flight operations centre as Dispatchers / Flight Followers. Transport Canada certification is not required.

The ideal candidate for Dispatcher / Flight Follower will have demonstrated excellence in customer service, a strong knowledge of sections 703 and 704 of the Canadian Aviation Regulations. This person will have experience working with a wide range of aircraft operating in various configurations and rolls. A strong sense of organization and the ability to adapt quickly to changing situations are essential. Preference will be given to individuals with experience in high-paced environments.

Wherever possible Air Mikisew attempts to fill flight-line positions from within. However, candidates should be aware that we do not guarantee promotion to the flight-line. The typical wait time for a flight-line position is 1 - 2 years.

Air Mikisew LTD has a fleet of 11 aircraft and has been successfully operating in the Fort McMurray area for over 25 years. Air Mikisew is owned by the Mikisew Cree First Nation of Fort Chipewyan, Alberta. This proudly owned First Nations company presently employs over 60 individuals. In addition to providing regularly scheduled commuter flights between Edmonton, Fort McMurray, and Fort Chipewyan, Air Mikisew offers a successful charter service to several major Canadian companies.

Beyond both our regularly scheduled flight service and our charter services, Air Mikisew holds the Alberta Health and Wellness Medical Evacuation contract for the Wood Buffalo community. Our Beech craft King Air 200 is specially configured to conduct full air-ambulance operations. We also routinely provide air-ambulance service to the Government of Saskatchewan. Air Mikisew is an integral part of the Wood Buffalo community and is a regular contributor to community

Mikisew job ad claims wait times for flying job at 1-2 years, anyone know if that's realistic? I've heard stories of people leaving for other ramp jobs because there was no movement.

Do they prefer the in-person resume drop-off? Worth the drive to Fort McMurray?

Flight Followers? Does that mean that I get to fly a 150 behind their plane and follow it? Or do I have to ride my bicycle...that would get kinda tiring. I hope I at least get to use a motorbike when I'm following their plane.

Wha....snarg....whoosa?

Whoa. Just woke up, and it looks like I was posessed by the spirit of Hazatude for a bit there.
