Anyone know anything about that?

There's like, guns and revolution and stuff. Gas prices are going up because some crazy dude is yelling in Tripoli. I think.

Anyone wanna buy a 1981 Cadillac? It's in the driveway collecting dust and I'm considering driving this SWEET ride to the scrap yard because real metal is going up in price.

Anyone here know anything first hand about the Middle East situation now? (And I'll sell someone the Caddie CHEAP!)

Give'er Avcanadians!

The Libyans tried to do the protest/revolution thing that the Egyptians and Algerians did. I believe Gaddafi wasn't having any of that shit though. He has plenty of backers and is laying down the law. I'm sure new news will come out soon. Heard he's blowing the oil pipelines.

Take a look at food and oil price history...that been adding pressures for revolution. But throwing out a dictator doesn't fix the population/food/water/oil/climate crisis. If the world loses a wheat crop again Egypt and the Middle Easterners are in for some rough times.

Food protests in India now..Saudi and Kuwait giving 14 months free food and 3700$ a family to keep them calm. Not even sure whats the protests in Iraq and Jordan are about...

It's all the speculators betting on oil futures that is jacking the price up. Libya's piddling 2% of world crude production doesn't mean squat to global supply.

I'd love a Cadillac, but I just bought me an F-150 with a thirsty V8. Now 27 MPG on my 82 Volvo with a U/S overdrive looks pretty good.

Actually I just did a summary on oil production.
The US Joint Forces 2010 report states: “By 2012, surplus oil production capacity could entirely disappear, and as early as 2015, the shortfall in output could reach nearly 10 million barrels per day.”

In 2010, a leaked report by Future Analysis of the Bundeswehr Transformation Center,
a think tank tasked with fixing a direction for the German military, reported oil as
peaking in 2010.

Typically, retired geologists and energy analysts have argued peak oil dates, mostly
clustering near 2008, while economists have endlessly predicted rising oil and gas
discoveries. Surprisingly, the International Energy Agency showed in its 2010 report
that conventional oil production peaked in 2006; all liquids in 2008.

Wikileaks has released documents in January 2011. The cables urge Washington to
take seriously a warning from a senior Saudi government oil executive that the
kingdom’s crude oil reserves may have been overstated by as much as 300 billion
barrels — nearly 40% According to the cables, which date between 2007-09,
Husseini said Saudi Arabia might reach an output of 12 million barrels a day in 10
years but before then — possibly as early as 2012 — global oil production would
have hit its highest point. Sadad al-Husseini is a geologist and the former head of
exploration at the Saudi oil monopoly Aramco.

The younger folk in Tunisia got ticked off at their dictator, got on Facebook & twitter & organized an uprising. They ousted their 'president'. The Egytians, Jordanians & Bahrainians figured if Tunis could do it so could they so they got on Facebook & twitter & also organized. Eygpt is a bigger country & it took longer for the protesters to oust that dictator but after 18 days they got him out. The Jordanians & Bahrainians are still working on it.

Bahrain is is a tiny island ruled by a royal family whose main claim to fame is that it offers a home to the US Fifth Fleet. After the royal family started playing rough with the protesters it made things a little sticky for the Americans as they've had a good deal there for their Navy.

The Liberians figured this was a good time to get rid of Mad Dog Gadafi so they got on Facebook & twitter & started protesting. Unfortunately, this mad man has no qualms about calling out his air force to straff his own people who aren't happy with his leadership. This worries the UN and they're thinking of kicking Gadafi out of the UN. Lot's of people are dieing there & Mad Dog has no plans to give up so it's going to continue to be very bad there.

Algeria is getting ideas about launching their own protests. They're still setting up their Facebook & twitter accounts but they'll hit the news before too long.

The Saudi royal family is getting a little nervous about all these folks protesting their dictators and/or royals so they paid off their population not to protest.

Israel is pretty nervous about the discord in all their neighbor's palaces.

And lastly, wait for it .... China who foresaw the unwelcome damage Facebook & twitter could do some time ago, are ensuring no other social network gains any ground there.

I think that about covers it but I may have missed a revolution or two.

Here's a map that's updated quite regularly,

http://www.lemonde.fr/afrique/infograph ... _3212.html

sorry it's written in French but here is the legend

green= all is cool
light pink= some protests and unrest (governments still in place)
wine red= Governments were kicked out

I think there's unrest in Irak too.

No story about the middle east revolutions/unrest can be discussed without the violence and beatings that are happening alongside. Why then, are these posts being allowed? They clearly violate the forum rules:

"-any post that contains:
abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-oriented material, discusses physical violence against others, or any other material that may violate any applicable laws may result in the topic being removed and the user banned."

Perhaps the mods should also put "There shall be no discussion regarding The Mid East" in the criteria.

I think we should send in the RCMP to sort out the situation in the middle east.

Day of Rage planed in USA!

http://www.usuncut.org/

The war is coming home. Iraq is just a testing zone for what's coming in our cities.
Armed check points, curfews. It's coming to USA first..slowly...

The troops are well prepared in crowd control now. And if you are labelled a "domestic terrorist" then no laws apply. Nice.
