That is essentially what is already happening at AC.This isn't a simple issue of Air Canada catching up to what the other airlines do, this is way beyond that. This involves everybody. There will be no more forced retirement, at 60, at 65, at any age. Big changes ahead.
As far as the Feds are concerned there is no age limit for reinstatement, just adherence to Transport Canada requirements, where no age limits are in effect. It’s already here and it has been here for a very long time in Canada.
JAZZ will now drop their own age 65 restriction as easily as they all mutually agreed to drop their age 60 business way back in 2002.
WestJet already did that a long time ago.
The Air Canada IAM, CAW, and CUPE are now, through arbitration, rapidly dropping their age 65 limitations. Their unions through expert legal opinion have already declared forced retirement as untenable and unwinnable.
They obviously have no intention of supporting our senior pilot extermination program.
We have been totally preoccupied, in a ridiculously transparent attempt to ‘cleanse’ the seniority list in time for open-ended careers at the top end, AFTER we nail as many senior pilots as possible.
That mission, however, was handed to the Feds on a plate on day 1 and that promptly ended the skit. We didn’t even have the ability to handle it for 5 minutes on our own before we lost complete control of it.
You’ll notice that the best we can do is try to catch up to reality from the confines of our cloistered little make-believe Utopian society, and we’re just now coming to grips with the reality that the laws of the land do in fact really apply to us.
The only thing left, in the complete absence of any kind of plan, is the kind of mindless screaming and yelling that you saw in the comments section of the Globe article, which is very likely the topic of the week at the Human Rights Commission. They have got to be wondering how comprehensive the baby-sitting job is going to get.
As stated elsewhere, our Hindenburg is so ridiculously antiquated and inept it can’t even get out of its own way.
We will be chaperoned through this entire process by the Feds simply because we have zero expertise in any of this.
We set our peep sights on simply killing off the senior pilots, even with the entire legal system tapping us on the shoulder, but we have only been shooting blanks because we screwed the entire process so badly right from the get-go, as stated elsewhere, we have been given a Federal Vasectomy to ensure that our Mad-Assed Discrimination doesn’t spread anywhere else. Ergo the Decisions, Orders, and Judgements.
The sanity of the IAM, CAW, CUPE, JAZZ, Westjet, and all the other airlines in North America is testament to the fact that our little Pilot Nuthouse has been fingered as the only in-Sanitorium of its kind on the Continent.
The core of our little Nucleus has been exposed to all the important Federal agencies, and while they douse us with water to try to prevent a full-blown Meltdown, given the comments in the Globe article, the Meltdown is already in progress, and the issue will be Containment, as we descend into the final throes of Blithering Expletives, all of which is aptly handled by another complete section in the Human Rights Act.
