Amphib 206 or a Beaver? Which one is better experince?
Just curious......Amphib 206 or Beaver on straight floats? Which one would be considered more valuable. The pay is about the same for both aircraft.
Any adivce would be appreciated
thanks

Honestly, it all depends...
If you have already flown the Beaver quite a bit, I would say go for the amphibious time, but if you don't have any time on it, then, go for the Beaver... It'll give you a paycheck you can live on...

Loved the 206 on wheels... 5 Germans and a bunch of fuel and get off in 1500 ft.. what's not to like? The Beaver is simply the most enjoyable airplane you'll ever fly on floats...hands down. T206H on amphibs.. surprisingly pleasant.. 4 Pax and fuel for .7 and it is up and out of the water in no time... can't figure out where Hey_Pilot is coming from.
Fill the Oil..Check the Fuel

Thanks for all the advice....
Well thanks everyone for the advice....I was offered the 206 job first and I gave my word that I would be there for them...unfortuantly the Beaver offter came a few weeks too late...and I have to stick to my word and not jump ship because that is what ruins the industry and makes employers want training bonds....As for the amphib 206 there is a good chance it will lead into an Amphib Caravan......
Thanks again everyone fly safe.

Don't worry you made the right decision....although the Beaver is a better airplane, the 206 is what you want to go for. This day an age what civilian airline flies radial engines? DC-3s are all in the museums!! Don't worry about it just have a good time and log the time. If I had to choose I'd go for the airplane thats going to fly the most, so I can build my time quicker.

Bizjet, help me out here.
WTF does the engine difference between a Beaver and a Cessna 206 have to do with it?
And last time I looked there were thousands of radials still used in commercial flying.

The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no
After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

Bizjet, all I was wondering was what the difference was between the engines in the c206 and the Beaver or rather what you meant by it.
And Toronto is not the center of the universe, you may find that there are many radials flying in the rest of the world.
Here is a hint for you to jump start your education about flying aircraft.
If you get the training and experience in operating large piston engines the change over to turbines is a piece of cake.
Conversely to go in the other direction requires you to get a whole lot more training. Then again there is the mindset that says why learn something you may not need, so it is all up to what one wants to do.

How about we mention the important thing here - Good on you, Cubpilot.
you gave your word, and you stuck to it even when it meant that you didn't get exactly what you want. You did it because it was the right thing to do, and because you're not willing to leave an employer hanging. I'm sure that by explaining it in those terms, the Beaver operation was more than willing to accept the fact that you weren't coming to work for them.
From my point of view, you're absolutely right. If more folks did that, there wouldn't be any need for training bonds.

Please don't tell my mother that I work in the Oilpatch...she still thinks that I'm the piano player at a whorehouse.

With that integrity, I'm sure you'll be in the Caravan in no time!CubPilot wrote:Well thanks everyone for the advice....I was offered the 206 job first and I gave my word that I would be there for them...unfortuantly the Beaver offter came a few weeks too late...and I have to stick to my word and not jump ship because that is what ruins the industry and makes employers want training bonds....As for the amphib 206 there is a good chance it will lead into an Amphib Caravan......
