AIP CANADA (ICAO) SUPPLEMENT 3/10

PRINTING AND BINDING ISSUE WITH CANADA AIR PILOT (CAP) 11 FEBRUARY 2010 EFFECTIVE DATE

NAV CANADA has identified an issue with the printing and binding of the Canada Air Pilot (CAP) volumes for the effective date of 11 February 2010. Certain information located on the edges of the pages is no longer readable due to perforation required for binding.
Volumes 1—7 of the CAP have been posted on the NAV CANADA website under Aeronautical Information Products, AIP Canada (ICAO):

Use of the electronic version of the CAP volumes is for reference only and must not be used for navigation purposes without the hard copy volumes of the CAP.
For additional information or to purchase aeronautical products, please contact Customer and Commercial Services, AEROPUBS at 1-866-731-PUBS (7827), or by e-mail at aeropubs@navcanada.ca.

AKA despite the fact that printed one you paid good money for is NFG, we still want you to buy it and suck your money out, rather than giving you it free online and allowing you to print it at your leisure.

I got to say the CAP's are the absolute worst - I curse them every time i use them -- I maintained personal Jepps to avoid them in the past -- now I just go with the flow and whine

It's actually a liability issue. Not everyone has access to a decent printer so if someone piles in and a crappy homemade print job is found in the wreck then you just know it's going straight to court.

Couldn't a disclaimer solve that problem.

Excellent example of not developing or utilizing efficient technologies for monetary reasons; it's flawed I tell you.

I call BS on the liability issue. What if your CFS is full of grease and can't read it? In the end, it the pilot's responsability to make sure he has adequate publications for the flight.

Me think it's a money grab.

A messy CFS won't run you into terrain. I think the CAPs are a bit more critical to keeping my ass alive than my CFS.

How is it a money grab? Jeppesen doesn't give anything away either.

All righty but I'll have to do it in chunks. The files are all around 65MB even compressed, and take quite a while to upload.

Here's CAP 02:

And finally, CAPGEN:

Use them wisely. If something bad happens because you used these out of date plates, it's your own fault.
