Re: Ice Pilots of NWT Series on History Channel this Fall!
Yesterday's episode was probably one of the more interesting ones I've seen. Westjet takes off for LHR as a 737 but lands as a BA 747, Joe, Mikey, and Electra expert check out potential aircraft at "Atlantic Airlines" in Coventry, UK, Mikey and Joe climb Coventry cathedral's tower, Mikey wears the same clothes the whole trip, Mikey falls asleep (what else is new) in an Electra, pilots experience engine trouble and turn "right face" for runway, aircraft lands and they find metal in the engine, new engine is flown in with mx people, new engine installed, plane can now go back to delivering supplies to reserve in MB and finally Mikey paints his face and goes drinking with airline staff while Joe gets ready to buy an Electra from Atlantic Airways.
Nothing cleans a dirty plane like 100LL!
Re: Ice Pilots of NWT Series on History Channel this Fall!
realizing it is a drama and all but from what I saw today if the company is left up to mikey it will go downhill quick. I really hope all the f-ing the dog while he was supposed to be trying to figure out what to look for was just for the show.
Re: Ice Pilots of NWT Series on History Channel this Fall!
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that Westjet doesn't fly direct YZF to LHR, there was probably a connecting flight in there somewhere. Thanks for the synopsis.BeechjetYKZ wrote:Yesterday's episode was probably one of the more interesting ones I've seen. Westjet takes off for LHR as a 737 but lands as a BA 747,

Last weeks episode had some sub-titles for the conversation with Whitehorse Radio who apparently was reporting "lightning cloud at ground"BeechjetYKZ wrote:Yesterday's episode was probably one of the more interesting ones I've seen. It might just be me, but it sounds like all the FSS operators are the same guy, almost like they have a voice actor recreate the conversations using scripts written by people who don't know anything about aviation. But I'm sure they would never do that...SierraPoppa wrote:Last weeks episode had some sub-titles for the conversation with Whitehorse Radio who apparently was reporting "lightning cloud at ground"
Re: Ice Pilots of NWT Series on History Channel this Fall!
yeah , the subtitle guy isn't an airman forsure. i also seen him quote scott blue's call landing at the st. teresa strip as "right face runway...", what would it take to have someone proof the script , they obviously have a huge budget for that show ! anyway's , just another error on the sub-title's which is good for us all getting a smurk out of it !SierraPoppa wrote:Last weeks episode had some sub-titles for the conversation with Whitehorse Radio who apparently was reporting "lightning cloud at ground"BeechjetYKZ wrote:Yesterday's episode was probably one of the more interesting ones I've seen. btw , gotta give mikey props for downing that yard of ale.. that looked like a lil stronger brew than our canuck suds , and 4.5pints i think they were touting it at , wow !
Re: Ice Pilots of NWT Series on History Channel this Fall!
Did anyone notice how they cut to a day or two later when Mikey was sober again? He must have been $h!tf4ced after 4.5 pints, not to mention the pints he'd been drinking before in the pub. Must have been some hangover.20DMEYYZ wrote:

The yard is just a warm up in yellowknife.

Re: Ice Pilots of NWT Series on History Channel this Fall!
Just like how they would never digitally shake the in-cockpit, face-on footage of the pilots to add drama to the scene...modi13 wrote:It might just be me, but it sounds like all the FSS operators are the same guy, almost like they have a voice actor recreate the conversations using scripts written by people who don't know anything about aviation. Re: Ice Pilots of NWT Series on History Channel this Fall!
There is actually a "crab fishing" fourm on the deadliest catch website.
I noticed the prop on the 46 was feathered, they must have shut her down in flight? I wonder why they wouldn't re-enact that?

Re: Ice Pilots of NWT Series on History Channel this Fall!
Yeah, I thought I heard the pilot (Scott?) who called maintenance say that they had shut the engine down in flight.

This is funny, without Lynsay Lohan and Buffalo Air we would have pretty boring TV.jet a1 wrote:do you guys think there's a crab fishing forum out there where guys spend so much time bitching about minor mistakes on deadliest catch? Was that the season finale tonight? I'm guessing that not having a "Next time on Ice Pilots..." at the end signifies that it's over until Season 3.

Will fix airplanes for food.

I gave Arnie his first and probably his only ride in a CL-415 and now he is retired.
Godspeed Arnie, you have certainly earned it.

Next time one of you guys sees Mikey, let him know that black socks with shorts is a fashion faux-pas! Hopefully he'll be able to afford more than that one outfit he wears every day now that he has two seasons of being a TV star in his bank account.

Only if the socks and outfit have the Buffalo on them.
