YYC

Post by WhatThe? »

Hello, just wondering what the most junior Captain's date of hire is for YYC, and how many pilots are assigned to that base?

Thanks

Most junior Captain on the D-8 and rj is 1998. Calgary has approx. 252 pilots. Hope this helps.

Not likely, since they are in the process of transitioning back to the rj for the summer and I'm certain at least one pilot would have it in their standing bid. So, I will go with 99.9% no, but stranger things have happened.
However, there were vacancies on the q400 after the last bid so a new hire could get that.

All new hires so far this year have been assigned YYC DH8. That is unlikely to change for the time being as most of them are bidding out of YYC.

It appears so as there was a guy hired on March 8, 2011 awarded YYZ 757 F.O.

Yes, I guess he is a new hire...however he is the new Chief Pilot of Training.

No new hire FO will get the 57 to start on for a long time, so this is a moot point to discuss

He is a direct hire management pilot to fill the position of Chief Pilot of Training...you need a seniority number for that position...so viola

just a quick question for the yyc based guys about how long it would take ( or how far up the ladder you would have to be) at the YYC base to be able to reliably book weekends off on a regular basis.

forgive my ignorance if this is not a realistic monthly bid...

It really depends on seniority and equipment. If your a new hire and you get the dash, than probably not that long as most are trying to get back to YYZ. If your on the RJ it'll be longer.

Remember we are a seniority company so it all depends on when you start, and what kind of movement happens which really nobody can predict.

It all depends how many people you get below you and how fast. You could have 10 people below you in a months time and be able to hold some weekends off immediately or you could be stuck bottom of the list for 2 years. All depends on movement.
