Tall tale of a scamming unqualified ferry "pilot"

Post by ogc »

I found this over on pprune.

Blown away by this thread.

After getting an idea about the character and you want to be flabbergasted you can read his past posts from when he was 16 back in 2004 here:

http://forum.keypublishing.com search for username R.weaver

Here are some choice posts

http://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?t=18661

Unbelievable that this is a real person...

He can't get a commercial licence because he's blind in one eye and was trying to find ways around that to fly commercially, but he now has an FAA CPL and instructor rating? He owns a major company with bases on two continents at age 24? He's ferried jets and large turboprops without getting type ratings? Nothing at all sounds fishy about this. He doesn't have any pictures of himself actually flying any of the aircraft he supposedly ferried, and the picture of his "secretary" looks like it was taken from a stock photo website. He doesn't sound like he's all there in the head either; he wouldn't say which airfield he was doing his training at for "security" reasons, but he used his real name as his PPRUNE username and posted his e-mail in the forum.

If my understanding is correct, he is unable to get a CAA or JAR CPL because he is at least partially blind in one eye.

He did manage to petition the FAA to award him a class 2 medical which allowed him to get an FAA CPL and instructors rating legitimately. He only ever completed a single engine instrument rating.

It looks like his "company" is not actually incorporated, anywhere. Its just a webpage and he appears to have used his personal bank account to collect money. The address given is fake as well.

He also has a "flight school" to do FAA renewals, and apparently he had a "charter" company at some point as well. Again none are real.

It also appears that he had set up a fake solicitors (law firm or something like it) from which he would send letters threatening legal action.

Absolutely incredible... This has provided me hours of reading material so far haha.

That guy reminds me so much of the late Raf Z..... of "(your town's name here) Flight Centre."

It used to be such fun to go to the men's room in the old South Terminal building at VR and read the unflattering graffiti which went front ankle height up to the ceiling ... quite a display.

Be thankful!

Still .... it was absolutely hilarious to watch his antics ... as long as you weren't involved with him.

I posed as a prospective student once and had him try to sell me lessons while holding a hankerchief over a bleeding lip he'd collected from a group of aircraft owners who had been stiffed for lease payments about 2 minutes prior.

Engine failure in light twin somewhere in the 'States ... killed everyone on board. Somehow, it didn't surprise me to hear of that.

I was CFI of Staron Flight (YVR and YPK bases) when it was sold to Raf. After 3 weeks of lunacy and 2 bounced cheques, I quit too.
