Reapplying in 6 months

Post by El Comat »

Hi folks,

Well it looks as though AC doesn't require my . Yeager dog fighting skills at this time :D , so I guess I'll try again in 6 months. Does anyone know what it actually means to "reapply"? Do I leave my current profile dormant for 6 months and then start updating again, or do I start a new profile at the 6 month mark? Should I get new reference letters at that time? Send the bribe money in a different currency :D ?? I'm not about to roll over quite yet, so I'd definitely like to give it another shot. Any advice is welcome!

Thanks,
EC

PS - interviewed March 4 if anyone is wondering

Sorry it didn't work out this time. AC has hired pilots on the 2nd and 3rd interview process. Hang in there and re-apply in 6 months. If you couldn't tick off all the boxes (second language, jet, military, college diploma, university degree) show them the next time through that you are working on it to make yourself more marketable. Hope to see you online.

Just received my PFO as well and was wondering the same thing. It says "your file will be retained for future consideration" so I wouldn't think you need to build a new profile. My guess is that you can maintain the same profile and just select the "click here to apply" when your 6 months is up. Best of luck.

What did the letter say exactly? I have heard there are two just wondering what the difference is? Further consideration sounds positive, I read "not yet" from that. Any one receive another type of letter or care to publish what they received?

I have seen two different PFO letters during this latest round of hiring. The first and last paragraphs are essentially identical. The difference is in the second paragraph. One letter says 'your file will be retained for future consideration no sooner than 6 months from the date of your interview'. The other letter says 'we invite you to re-apply no sooner than 6 months from the date of your interview'. I've got no clue if the different wordings actually mean something different or if it's just two different ways of saying the same thing. I would assume that the process would be the same regardless of what letter you received... in six months you'll go back in and start updating your online profile again hoping it gets noticed. Anybody have a different take on the process?

In 2007 I recieved 'your file will be retained for future consideration no sooner than 6 months from the date of your interview'. I too was hoping that was a 'better' PFO letter....never have heard back though. I have however continued to update my file to no avail.
Good luck to all.

Well I was PFO'd a while ago too. I can say now that PFO letter had worked out for me at the end. 5 months after I was PFO'd I got a left seat on 737 with one company in EU and now I passed a skill test for A320 Left seat. I do not apply to AC any more, not worth it. Got sick of reapplying.
Good luck to all of you guys.

I don't understand why they do that??!!?? it's like if they want you to keep applying on a continuous basis to see your interest! I guess I'll start now!

Despite AC's way of hiring, it's still a company that will require a lot of new pilots in the very near futur....

I think my letter was dated about 3 weeks after the interview. Best of luck to ya!

PS - Here's a question for the AC folk on here. I'm at CAE for the next couple days....would it be wise to go and speak to Monique (HR) to see what I should do in 6 months? Or perhaps Dennis or Curtis?

So for the guys that got PFO letters but were hired on their second (or third) interview. What was it that made the difference?

Ran out of better candidates in that time frame. I understant when you passed the interview you're in the pool, they pick what they think is the best from that pool to fill vacancy, if your in the pool for to long you get the letter to reapply
