I heard of that being done at Goose, but with the Twin Otter floats.

The circling minimums wouldn't work for Victoria airport and the Harbour being so far away. One would have to be certain that it was VFR when you got to your DH/MDA or back you go. Cat it sure sounds like you had fun doing it.

? You must mean the twin.
There were no factory turbine otters, DeHavilland built 466 piston otters. Your thinking of the Beaver, I believe 60 turbo Beavers were built with PT6 with the dash 20 installed, later -27's were added if wanted. I looked everywhere in all my Dehav books to try and find these factory Otters you say were built and I came up empty handed. If there is any truth to this I would love to hear about it. Happy Flying.
I guess I was wrong. Not the first time either. Maybe Viking will make some?

Well it's to bad they didn't. I could be wrong but I think the reason Vikings not building them is they would have to put the original engine back on them, and who would buy a million dollar airplane(that's probably what it would cost to build) with a 1340 bolted on the front. Unless they could change that, I don't think you would see that any time soon.

The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no

After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

I don't see any reason that Viking couldn't acquire the STC for whatever turbine you want and build new -3Ts. All you need is a data plate, why can't they make new data plates?

Except they are making Twin Otters now, and new singles would cut into sales. Thats why DHC stopped building the single.

About 150hp short and a 400lbs heavy. Or 400hp short if you compare it to a Garret powered Otter.
