A question for Westjeter in the know

Post by J31 »

I’m curious as to why does Westjet paint a black anti-glare section under the forward flight deck windows of all their aircraft. (200, 700, 800). Is it more for looks than function as I have not seen any other white airliners painted that way in a long time? As a 737 pilot I do not see the need as very little if any of the nose is visible to the pilots.

Anti glare paint. It is supposed to reduce the glare. All depends on seat position.

Not sure, maybe it has no purpose. The Russians painted their cockpits green because it was a soothing colour. Maybe the black reflects the light back out the windows instead of keeping it there on the panel.
