Looking for advice on a T206 purchase
I am trying to determine which aircraft would be a better purchase; i thought i would seek opinions to help. I have been searching for T206, (2005-2006) non to be found in Canada so it looks like I will have to import again. Curious as to thought on how much of a premium one should be paying for low hours. IE.
1. 2005 T206 850TT, with fresh TOH, or
2. 2006 with 380TT
The 380TT is aprox 50k more.
Is it worth that kind of premium just to see smaller numbers on the hobbs? Both aircraft have been well maintained are both very clean.
Also, one has WAAS, I plan on doing my IFR this summer, is WAAS going to be a great benefit now or down the road?
Thank you for any comments.

50K seems pretty excessive, since that is more than an entire engine overhaul is worth. I would assume that both are G1000 equipped anyways. I would go for the cheaper one.
Geez did I say that....? Or just think it....?

You have to figure how many years it'll take to reach TBO? The higher time machine seems the way to go. The usual caveats apply.
The time difference being only 500 hours, at 200 hours a year, you'll be doing an overhaul on the low time machine two and a half years later any way. I'd hang onto your 50K.

Both have G1000,
I guess i should clarify, the 2006 380TT is the one with WAAS; that most like adds to the tag, but i am not sure if it worth the $$?

For 50K, I'd learn to live without it.wombat wrote:Both have G1000,

You'll need the 50K for operating costs.

did yo check the cost of a WAAS upgrade on the airplane. It looks like Cessna has an SB to do just that.... and I heard it's around 15 k to replace both GPS receivers and antenna. Like Doc said, I'll keep the 50k and upgrade the airplane when you do your IFR.wombat wrote:Both have G1000,

I'd say no to the WAAS. Not something that is fully developed here in Canada.
Choice #1 sounds like the winner for the long term.
P.S Where are you thinking of basing the aircraft?

Don't forget that the restart 206Hs are only certified for 5 persons in Canada. The legacy 206s are certified for 6 (actually they are not even certified in Canada, but that is another issue ... and they are legal to fly in Canada anyways ... obviously).
Re: Looking for advice on a T206 purchase
With my experience the T206 tends to eat away the camshafts. Might be something to look for with both aircraft.

aso has a canadian one, looks like it's on amphibs. I flew a 206...twice, both times on floats, once turbo, once non, and apparently the 'T' makes quite a difference getting off the water. There now you know everything I know about 206's.

Re: Looking for advice on a T206 purchase
Are you hard over on buying a new build T206? A late 1970's to 1985 T206 will be less than half the cost, have what IMO is a better engine (Continental TSIO 520) and have a significantly better useful load. Find one with a Garmin 530/430 stack and you have all the avionics you need.
If you are set on a new build T206 than I second the notion about buying the cheaper one. Cessna has a SB to upgrade the early G1000 to WAAS and I see it has already had a top overhaul, something you will be paying for in the newer lower time one.......... in about 150 hrs
