Thanks for the ride...
I recently learned that my company and Westjet has a recip. I flew out of YXX this morning.
It's much easier to fly into YXX instead of YVR, so I plan to take advantage of that.
Thanks again for the ride.

I think I can speak on behalf of the pilot group when I say no problem and happy to have you on board.

Question about jump seating on Westjet.... Do the crew even know that there are JS'ers on the aircraft? The first time I jump seated on Westjet I was surprised at the gate agent doing it all, vs what I was used to at Air Canada where I had to go talk to the captain and show him my license etc.
Re: Thanks for the ride...
If your company has an agreement you just call the sales center, check loads and list on the jump seat agreement. I believe you can check in on line proceed to the gate. There the CSA will issue a seat assignment if there is room. The pilots have no involvement in the process as a reciprocal jump seat takes a seat in the cabin. However usually the FA or CSA will inform them of a jump seat pilot. You are always welcome to stick your head in the flight deck and say hi. Of course use common courtesy and ask the flight attendant first.BEFAN5 wrote:Question about jump seating on Westjet.... Do the crew even know that there are JS'ers on the aircraft? Re: Thanks for the ride...
I have to say that the process of listing on WJ for a jumpseat is amazingly easy. I am very rarely on hold when I call in and always get to speak to friendly and helpful people. Some of those call center people are absolutely amazing at sorting stuff out when things go wrong as well.
Re: Thanks for the ride...
There CSA's at the airport are amazing as well. Always doing their best to help you find other alternatives to get home if your flight get booked.
As per my previous question. I just wanted to know because there is always a look of confusion when I approach them and do my thanks for the ride bit. Whereas, compared to Air Canada, the pilots already know who I am and why I am approaching them to say thanks.
All around Westjet is a great jumpseat partner. Every department does their best and cheers to the pilots who have opened up their actual jumpseats to eligible standby's to open up that one/two extra seats in the back.
