Medical renewal

Hi all,

Just reading up on CARS (404.4) since my medical is coming up for renewal. My renewal examination is within a day or two of the anniversary of my last medical. Scheduling one where I live doesn't give me many options on dates, so we live with what we get, and work doesn't allow me to travel out to get one right now.

After reading CARS on the requirements, am I correct in understanding that the medical is valid until the first day of the month following the renewal date?

You are correct, which is why I always try to get my medical done on the first day of the month; thereby giving me a bonus month.

If you are stuck in somewhere without a Doc, you could probably phone your regional office and ask for a 30 day extension to your medical to enable you to finish your work rotation.....

If you are in the Prairie Region try e-mailing this person franca.marando@tc.gc.ca. I got forwarded to this person who set me up with the extension. I got a reply instantly and had my extension within an hour. Ask for a 60 day just in case and the price is 50 bucks (same if you get 30 day)...you will have to call to give your visa...
