Aircraft was reported missing Wednesday (Apr 27/2011) on a flight from Campbell River to Port Hardy with one on board. Aircraft is - N41X a 1952 Cessna 195A

A pilot who was reporting missing after flying out of Bellingham International Airport Wednesday afternoon, April 27, was found dead Thursday at a crash site 32 miles northwest of Campbell River, British Columbia, said Mike Fergus, spokesperson for the Federal Aviation Administration.

The name of the man has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

The plane was due to land in Ketchikan, Alaska at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Search teams began looking along the coastline of Vancouver Island, between Campbell River and Port Hardy about an hour after the plane was due to land.

The pilot was the only person aboard the plane. The case has been handed over to Sayward RCMP.
