Piper Cherokee Cruiser 140 lands short of Brampton Airport

Piper Cherokee Cruiser was in the circuit just after nightfall. Completing a fuel tank transfer on downwind leg, the engine began to only produce 1400 RPM. On base to final it was determined the aircraft would not make Runway 15, and the PIC elected to land in a field north of King Road . Aircraft landed safely, pilots unhurt, aircraft appears undamaged.
