Float flying in Victoria
Went to Victoria a month ago for a little holiday with my family. It's been 28 years since I had been there last. Went to the harbour to try a talk to some of the drivers and never got a chance. I never saw any of HA's beavers at Vic, being and old beaver driver I was curious what the boys were getting paid and how they enjoyed that type of flying(west coast is always notorious for crappy, unpredictable Wx, which adds to the excitment of the job
) I had a hard-on for that West Coast Twin otter, nice clean machine. Anybody would like to add to there time there past or present would be great. Maybe one day I'll move out there and fly for Pacific Coast( Love the 1900). I'll try a win a lottery first. Hats off to you Coast drivers, your one of a kind. DHCdriver

You wont see any HA beavers in victoria.. Just the Turbo Swine.
Those twin otters would be great if they werent old/tired 100 series birds. Maybe someday soon they'll get some 300's or heaven be praised 400s!

I thought there would be lots of stories to tell from the coast! I was thinking of moving out there when I semi-retire and go flying floats again. Spent my whole career flying Ontario and Manitoba(my stories are boring).

Oh yes, there are many stories! Sadly, the culture of flying on the coast is such that we aren't allowed to talk about our stories. We might get sued and/or fired. It certainly is a rush flying in and out of the major centers, but with so many people watching, you gotta be on your best behavior! What you need to do is sit down with some of us fellas in a pub, then some of the more slippery stories might spill out.
Flying airplanes is easy, you just need to PAY ATTENTION. Finding a good job on the other hand takes experience, practice, and some serious talent.

Fair enough, next year when I go back to Vic I'll stop at the Flying Otter and ask around then maybe we can swap jug failure stories on the old Dehav's. Cheers DHCdriver.

Hmmm I live right by the harbour and see lots of DHC-2's in here all the time. Pretty sure some of them are HA's
