WOLLASTON LAKE, Sask. — Smoke from a forest fire has closed the only way out for residents of a northern Saskatchewan community who have been told they need to leave.
Officials said Wednesday that the fire near Wollaston Lake had grown to cover about five square kilometres and was burning next to the airport. Steve Roberts, the province's executive director of wildfire management, said shifting winds were blowing smoke across the runway, shutting down access to the airport.
