The Northwest Company

Post by Captain_Canuck »

Well well well - To no surprise, the reoccurring 6 month ad for the North West Companies 441 F/O position has come up yet again!!

I wonder when the "Company" will realize that the CP is a total moron!

6 months? I think its gotten worse than that, lately!
Its becoming a spam job advertisement and frankly, its embarrassing to see. I'm surprised the company hasn't questioned the situation.

The CP is a total moron and I also can't believe he has continued to get away with this for so long... I think AvCan should just refuse to post the job ads anymore... what a joke!!

Are people getting "let go" from this position or are they quitting?

great company, graet planes, worst cockpit enviroment EVER! the average "cockpit rampy" last 3 months before choosing unemployment over a good paying flying position. Dont waste your time moving out to winnipeg and back home, nothing will ever change there, its a one man operation.

We should all start a pool on how long the next guy or girl will last. I'll take November. Anyone else in on the action?

Their training budget must be astronomical. I'm sure they spend as much training 3-4 copilots per year as they would on training 1 full time G150 pilot who would never leave the company for the salary they are making.

Out of curiosity, is there a bond?

Perhaps it's time the company sniffed the roses, and hired a CREW. Time to clean house there you twits! Your flight department is in the toilet....flush it.

The job in question is the Cheyenne, not the Gulfstream G150. My eyes nearly popped out of my head when I saw the salary on that one.

The Northwest Company and NorthWest Value Partners Inc. are two very different companies (http://www.nwvp.ca/). And the peanut is neither a pea, nor a nut.

I bet my colleague that I could derail the thread simply with the peanut comment.

Oops, sorry I meant conquest. Just pointing out that it definitely was nothing to do with that other job posting with the 200k salary

With regards to my original post, it makes me SICK to think that some poor young fellow is going to take this position, move to YWG, fly the airplane for 2-4 months and then get shafted by the crusty old bugger who cant seem to fly with anyone!

I do not understand why the company can not see this trend that has gone on for the past few years. Do they not see that they are loosing f/o's all the time? Why dont they look at the common thread here?

I would highly advise the good folks at Av Can to stop posting these ad's. This in itself is one of the problems in aviation with companies like this taking advantage of young pilots.

Having worked there I know from experience that things are exactly as others have indicated. The CP is unbelievably difficult to work with. For direct entry Captains (rare) I had a bond to cover the exact cost of Flight Safety (~$9K USD). This bond did not decrease over time and was 18 months. For FO's there is no bond as they do not send you to Flight Safety right away. Likely because they have a revolving door for the right seaters. What they don't tell the new FO's is that they are on a 3 month trial to see if they are "worth" sending to Flight Safety, at which time there will be a bond. I was fired without cause, given no notice and told to beat it. At least the bond was torn up.

I strongly caution all that are going to look at this place. Also, watch for "other duties as assigned" in the job description. This can include all kinds of ridiculous tasks.

After following this thread and many others regarding NWC and their single pilot two crew operation I have to give my experience. When checking out of a northern hotel one morning I was waiting in line behind a guy who was being ignorant and just plain rude to the person working the check out counter. The problem was a simple double swipe of the credit card to pay for two separate rooms and to this guy the issue was a big deal...wanting to defend the counter guy but just let tards be tards I showed up for my flight later on that afternoon.

Low and behold the same guy walks out the conquest barking orders to the FO of an NWC conquest.

Funny how everyone has the exact same experience with this screwball. Maybe they should get him a helper monkey and save some low-timer from wasting 4 months of his life.

Before the Old Fog heads over there to have some fun, I think it would be a good idea if all the F/O's that left there disappointed should write a letter to the head cheese and inform them of this guy. Surely they must be wondering the high turn over of right seaters. DHC
