Forgive me if I've double posted this. I just can't find my original post.
I bought an aircraft that is currently located in the Thompson Okanagan area. I need to bring it home to its new base in Eastern Manitoba (specifically Falcon Lake). There's nothing for float bases across the southern prairies. I know that I can go way north and that may be what I end up doing. However, I was wondering if anybody knows of a way to fly this route across the northwestern USA? Like, say from Northern Washington across to northern Minnesota. I would need facilities about every 300mi or thereabouts. TIA,

Wow, Kelowna to Regina Beach is over 600mi. Would need at least one stop in between.

I've done that trip several times but it meant carrying several jerry cans of fuel with me.

I have made the trip several time.. PM if you need help. Their is some little fuel stops I can tell you about. Kelowna to Regina in a beaver..long trip even with aux tanks, and not much for landing if things dont work out as planned.

try doing this, stop on lakes and refuel as needed

Go via Edmonton if you have to and stop at Cooking Lake, there is gas there and then Regina Beach. If your really short on range take jerry cans and stop at Diefenbaker Lake. There used to be gas on the river in Winnipeg (it was some years ago I made those trips) but you may make it direct to Kenora.

The aircraft is a Murphy Rebel O320. I can burn Mogas but I think I need to be burning premium so as to avoid the ethanol. Not sure if boating marinas would tend to carry premium fuel? My fuel capacity is 45 (40 usable), economy cruise 8.8, and would be cruising around 80. This is all according to the builder. I have yet to fly the a/c.
Ya, I think you folks are right. This can be done flying straight east and making stops. Just need to work out the fuel logistics.

@rs1, Everything I've read online indicates that Cooking Lake water base is closed due to the lake drying up. Also apparently fuel is not available at the dock. Would need to shuttle gerry cans from the pump to the docks. Not likely too convenient, but doable if you can land there.

Wow, who would have thought. I operated out of Cooking Lake for many years and I watched the lake go up and down but never so far down that you couldn't get into the docks. Someone must be doing something there because I think the Spooners are still around there and there has been a decent fleet of float planes over the years, they must be operating somewhere?

Be careful with this... Most fuel suppliers will have ethanol in their premium Mogas.

The only one I know of that still does not is Shell.

Some boat docks will have premium, but it all depends on the lake as the only boats that use it are them fancy ones.

Idk what the interior of that plane looks like, but if you can take out the passenger seat(s) and in their place herc strap down some jerri cans to the seat rails, that might work for you. Try and keep that weight forward though, as it sounds like there isn't much room for error with regards to payload in that airplane. Make sure those jerri cans have a good seal too before you go flying. Leaking gasoline/avgas in the cockpit isn't just a fire hazard, those fumes can be strong enough to make u sick for a day or two even with a small exposure time.

The Regina Beach Yacht Club has been flooded out along with the Fuel dock and Federal warf.....you can heel up on the beach at the bottom of Centre Street or just east a couple of blocks at the boat launch and Dale Edwards will bring you down some 100ll in a slip tank in the back of his truck.....he also has a strip south of town 2 miles if you happened to be on amphibs...anyways it`s very do able and there are puddles every where in Southern Sask should you need one...Don`t forget to have Butler`s fish and chips when you stop for gas,only a block up the hill and well renowned...mmmmmmm.

Dales number is 1 306 536 1440 in advance.
