CASA grounds Tiger Airways

For the first time ever - CASA (Civil Aviation Safety Authority - Australia) has grounded an airline. (they have in the past grounded Ansett's 767 fleet - but not shut down the whole operation)

Re: CASA grounds Tiger Airways
It is good to see a regulator remove the gloves when the need arises. Sounds like Tiger Airways Australia had attracted CASA's attention earlier on and there were some serious violations on absolute basics.
The question that lingers in my mind now is whether Tiger Airways (Singapore) is affected by the same malaise and whether the Singaporean regulator will subject that airline to a similar level of scrutiny? In any case, I am sure the headlines of its Australian subsiduary don't help the Singaporean carrier's image.

Re: CASA grounds Tiger Airways
Tiger Airways (Singapore) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore Airlines (their low cost carrier division) - looks like Singapore and Tiger Airways Singapore are in damage control mode:

The additional Executive Director (Mr Chin Yau Seng) appointed was Divisional Vice President Cabin Crew Operations, Singapore Airlines up until July 3rd. They're sending in big guns from the parent company.

Correct me if I'm wrong.... but you can't go selling tickets without an Operating Certificate?
I don't know about Australian law on this one, but seems there's a whole lot of dodgy chit going on at Tiger

Watch this space....
Today's Flight International is reporting that CASA have found errors in the A320s FMGS data base with incorrect altitude constraints. Seems the crew might not be the only culprit here. Complicit maybe, but not necessarily entirely at fault.
Let's see what impact this bit of news may have on Tiger.
